Best Synthetic for Corvette ATF ?

My advice is to use a DEXRON-VI product. A paper that I referred to on another thread contained a graph showing oxidation performance of DEXRON-VI compared to that of certain synthetics (real ones) and it was at least as good and better than most.
Here we are again though with what does synthetic really mean in NA?

I'm afraid you can't do a link due to copyright restrictions but I do have a copy and can give you the reference if yo just give me time to find it. If you don't hear from me in a couple of days send me a PM reminder.

Same here, waitng for the paper!

"The is an SAE paper outlining the performance of DEXRON-VI, and it is a HUGE improvement over DEXRON-III. I have a copy somewhere but I can't find it right now. When I do I'll post the number so that anyone that is interested can take a look. "

"OK,I found it. Actually there are two. The SAE numbers are 2006-01-3421, and 2006-01-3242."

Noone is arguing that Dexron VI isn't better then mineral DexronIII. I'm looking for 'the paper' that says DexronVI is better then Mobil1, Amsoil, Royalpurple, Redline....or other full synth dex3 equvalents!

SAE papers claiming DexVI is better then mineral DexronIII is meaningless debate when were talking about the boutiques fluids.

I've read SAE papers showing ATF+4 and Mercon-V also makes mineral DexronIII look pretty lame too. No kidding!

I am interested too. GM 700R4/4L60/4L60E are real bad at burning up in third/fourth gear and heat is our enemy. SO we put the best fluid and coolers. But knowing what the best fluid to handle the heat is very important.

The 3/4 clutch issue in that transmission is well known. That's why you need not only improved heat tolerance but also improved friction durability. From the published test data DEXRON-VI offers both. To me the important point is that GM haven't just made a claim, they have published the test results to back up that claim. That gives me much more confidence.

Sorry everyone, I made a mistake in that earlier reference. I think it should read 2006-01-3241 and 2006-01-3242. I can't remember which is which but one deals with the actual specification and the other deals specifically with thermal durability.

Well, I need to help my transmission. It has been rebuilt twice, and I know the horsepower/torque(500+/500+ 396LT1), 2800rpm Vigilante/and 3.75 gears dont help, but my external cooler, and BeCool internal 7 row cooler keep it at 160 degrees.
I know any improvement in fluid is a plus, and a cheap plus in regards to the whole #@$%! 700R/4L60 issue in 3rd/4th.
