It doesn’t matter, as long as there is some sort of lubricant there. Even Vaseline worked for me.

Yup, pretty much anything will work on it as long as it provides some sort of barrier between the lead post and the battery gasses/moisture in the air.
Thicker stuff like Vaseline will attract more dirt, that’s why I started using wd40, as it attracts very little dirt.
I still have a spray can of terminal cleaner, it must be old enough to drink by now, the yellow turns red color stuff when it hits acid. Modern batteries are way better on post sealing than the old days, that's why it's still around in my supply cabinet.
Back then they sold a spray to ''seal'' terminals also, it made them a nice red colored mess.

!!! They did work though. Then they came out with battery washers, and different types of sprays. My dad use to put plain ole bearing grease on the posts. Did nothing. Use to corrode under the grease. LOL. I do believe the battery washers work, and NOCO no corrode ( in combination ). But battery seals have gotten much better on modern batteries. I still use my combination as a " peace of mind" ( a bit messy though.. LOL ) Have a spare battery in the garage. DOB is 2020. Terminals still not leaking. Hooked up to a NOCO 2 Genius. Check it once a year. Still putting out 500 CCA's out of 500 CCA's on tests.
