Best selling sodas from the past.

Anyone remember this place having stores in the USA? It's pretty amazing all the ideas that were tried over the years.

If I recall, we would get an assortment of what we wanted. Bring the empties back, and get some more. It was a novelty, they way people get assortments of craft beer today.

I just watched some tv show about Swanson and Stouffer's and how they came about....

My favorite soft drink from the past was Buffalo Rock Ginger Ale!When it was bottled here in South Carolina in the 70's and early 80's it was dark like a cola.Burned your throat going down and all natural flavoring. It's still around in places but a lot weaker than it was then.A company from Alabama bottles and distributes it now.

A White Rock Black Cherry from the pogey bait machine when i was in the NJSP Academy...it was unforgettable.

About early to mid 1960's, a dime got you a bottle of any of these:

6.5 oz. Coke
10 oz. Pepsi
16 oz. RC Cola
Yup. Hence Broke 😂
Even cheaper because we walked the country roads and picked up bottles all day. Most were found in our creek. Many from decades past .

Tab was quite big for awhile in the '60s. The aftertaste was disgusting, and around 1970 there was some bad press linking cyclamates to cancer. I'm surprised it was around so long.

The song from the TV ad remains in my memory banks ...

"How can just one calorie taste so good?
How can just one calorie taste so good?
Oh, the Coca Cola company
puts the flavour in Tab!
Doo doo doo."

Yup Tab was horrific...
My neighbor drank it.

Here is a fact for Diet Coke fans: Diet Coke is the failed New Coke with an aspartame sweetener.
This is true. Tab tasted a bit like regular Coke, and Diet Coke tasted like New Coke. In turn I thought regular New Coke tasted a lot like RC. RC (Royal Crown) is based near Coca-Cola, so that might not have been coincidence.

There's a pizza place near me on Long Island that has RC on tap. I love it. I asked the owner once how he came to have that. Pretty funny story. He was three weeks from opening and he called Coke. Coke said you have one place? Too small. He called Pepsi. Pepsi said we'll be there in 6-8 weeks. He called RC. They were there the next day. Installed the fountain, gave him RC glasses and classicy looking pictures to hang on the walls. After being open a few months and and completely killing it, Coke and Pepsi both called him wanting in. He still serves RC.

I don't think this soda is old but my son and I have been drinking Manhattan Special Coffee Soda for a few years now. One day, we were in the grocery store and we see Manhattan Special Orange, Lemon Lime, Vanilla Cream, Sarsaparilla and Black Cherry on the shelves. All made with cane sugar and old school natural ingredients. Best sodas I've had in many years. The Sarsaparilla and the Orange are my two favorites. The orange tastes like orange soda used to taste when I was a kid. I will not drink Crush.

When I was a kid (70s and 80s) we used to go to the Pop Shoppe all the time near our cottage in Canada. Back here at home in Rochester, we went to Towne Club, same concept. http://www.towneclub.com/

Both stores had every flavor you could imagine... Black Cherry, Pineapple, Cream Soda, Grape, etc.

That seems familiar. I believe 5 empties had an cold one in your hand.

Coke announced they'd be offering a diet version.......
I KNEW they weren't going to sully the name "Cake" with a product which was likely to match No-Cal sodas in foul taste -which it did.
I wonder to this day if there was a way to bet on that. The only "sure thing" I would've placed a bet on.
Then Tab was released and everyone hated it.
I too wonder how it hung around so long.

Dang even I’m old enough to remember some of them lol. I really liked Coca Cola Life and normally I don’t drink Coke products but it was good I always wondered what happened to it. I also remember others too like Tab, Surge, they re released the Crystal Pepsi a few years ago too I liked it as well.
Have you ever experienced any superfluous nipple development?
