I relative of mine just recently purchased a mint 2003 VW New Beetle and has never been winter driven until this year. Now I have always owned your average car with some rust on it so I never made any special effort to make sure it was rust proofed well. I just took it to the local guy down the street that sprayed underneath for 50$.

We want to keep this car rust free, who provides the best protection against rust? Anyone have good experiences with theses guys?

-Krown?
-Ziebart?
-Metropolitan?
-Or your average 50$ no name garage?

Thanks

Krown (downtown one) has done several of my vehicles, with good results, but it only lasts a season or two. The Krown drips oil for a while.

My wife's Nissan was Ziebarted in Toronto and, man, it looks beautiful for a '99 here in the land of salt.

I had a door repainted on her Nissan this summmer (a tiny rust spot by the handle). Not bad for 10 years on heavily salted roads.

MTL has a Ziebart? Where? I want it!

hi there,

I've been going for many years at the same place.. more than 10 years at antirouille provincial, 12245 bl. sherbrooke east at pointes-aux-trembles.

Funny you asked because I just went there this morning with my car. It cost 73.32$ to be exact tax included. They know their product and they clean your car after they sprayed the car. It takes about 30 minutes but they are 3 on your car.

I never had any problem with rust since I go there. Its a mix of grease and oil and its not dripping on your driveway the first day though it smells kinda weird. You don't have to wash your car every 3 days because oil is dripping from everywhere.

I never liked Metropolitan because my gf used to go there and I remember, one year, she just came back from Metropolitan and told me that she needed to do an oil change on her car so I went under the car, did the oil change and everything was dry, no oil, no grease no nothing. Only the doors was done. The year after, they did the job good but they greased the leather seats!!!!!

For the best protection, go once a year!

We really should have a bat-light, but for StevieC.

To the OP:

Wal-Mart. Don't go when it's busy, though. Solution is manufactured and blended in Canada. Krown is US-Dupont stuff (IIRC), and Corrosion-X, last I checked, was imported asian stuff... Enough said.

The product is not as important as the application method, I would not go out looking just for Krown, although it is a good product, but if you don't have a good, reputable shop near you area, look for something else.

The quality of application is much more important than the product itself.

Also, if you want something that is Canadian mede, look into Corrosion Free products, I use it for touch ups and extra protection in fender wells, you can get it in a spray can and it is really good, but as far as I know, only Canadian Tire carries, also only CT applies the stuff.
