What's your thought on the best "regular" wiper blade?

I'm fixing up an 'ol beat up car with torn-up wipers, and I don't want to spend a bunch on wipers like the Bosch Micro Excels.

Can someone recommend a normally priced wiper blade that they have had good luck with?

Thanks...

I've always used ANCO's. Also since it sounds like the car is kinda whipped, try scrubbing the windshield with Bon-Ami cleanser. It absolutely positively MUST be Bon-Ami, anything else will scratch the glass. Gets the grit off and any wiper will be more effective. Top it with Rain-X if you've got some.

Thanks guys for the replys...yeah, this car has seen more off-roading than more trucks.

It has Rain-X De-Icer fluid as washer fluid now, and that works pretty darn good. The glass itself is actually very clean, its just the wipers are completely shot.

So the Anco's are the way to go...

Are these available at Wal-Mart or other stores as well?

Is there only one type of Anco wiper or are there "regular" and "premium" versions?

Thanks.

I like BOSCH. Trico Exactfit are OEM I believe on most cars. I wasn't impressed wit ANCO personally.

I tried Trico a few times, they never lasted very long IMO. ANCO's will last me at least a year. I get the whole blade, then refills a few times, then a new blade again. It rains a lot in PA

I don't like Bosch anymore...whatever eurocrap enviro rubber they changed to stay on the WS not the blade.

I use the Fred Meyer, whatever, Anco is it? They actually are much cheaper and work better. In this cowsh!t land I live in, I replace them once a year anyway.

I have used just about every wiper blade known to man..........and they all suck. We can put a man on the moon, but we can't make a wiper blade that will survive more than 2 years.

I agree. Of course I'm sure they engineer them to fail after a certain amount of time.

If I had to pick a best I guess it would be Bosch. A close second were the Penske blades I used to get at K-Mart. Half the price of Bosch and lasted almost as long.

the plain jane trico have worked best for me. the bosch seemed to be streaky and wear out quickly. i have the teflon edged trico on right now and i'm not too impressed with those either.

the rain-ex window juice is well worth the price.

I've been meaning to try the PIAA silicone rubber blades, but they're so expensive that my college budget ruled them out. I'll have to call tirerack and give them a try.

I think Wally-World has them. I get mine at Auto Zone, it's closer. ANCO has regular, aero (not a big difference), and winter as I recall.

I prefer to use the OEM wiper arms and I use the refills that come from Wal-mart. All of my cars are from Germany so they all use the same brand of wiper arm (SWF brand) and the same refill size. For $4.89 I get a set of refill blades that last on average 2 years and work flawlessly. I do keep rain-x on my windshield and the pink rain-x additive in the windshield washer reservoir.

I have always had good luck with ANCO refills. I have also used BonAmi and it works well, but makes mess. Ceramic cooktop cleaner works very well on glass. It goes on just like car wax, doesn't scratch the glass and leaves the glass super clean.

Trico exact fits have been my best experience. I usually get at least a year out of them. I always buy the whole wiper instead of the refill as the salt tends to corrode and reduce the flexibilty of the wiper body after one winter.

Worst fits have been Bosch (they were so ungodly noisy in my F150's! Thunk, thunk, thunk, thunk....) and anything plastic. Flicking a wiper at -20 F when its plastic doesn't work so well.
