You should probably use a product designed for that sort of application, if there's no plastics or nylon involved possibly white grease? I wouldn't use WD myself for that, it will probably attract a lot of dirt, it's very sticky.Freeze off has been a lifesaver for myself and when I worked for a local guy building race cars. My cousin years ago came out to visit with nis Nissan 350z. A few of the bolts wouldn't budge. A little Freeze Off and you can watch it bubble and wick its way in. For lube on hinges a dry lube is likely what you want. Several of my vehicles had a heavy grease in the latch mechanism.
