I have a '97 Z71 (5.7 vortec) that has, from what I can tell, some cold start knock noise (piston slap). Now I know these motors are not normally associated with piston slap, but it sure sounds like it to me. I suppose it could be some rod knock, but the noise completely goes away after a few minutes of running.
What is the best oil for supressing noise?
