How should I go about changing the front diff fluid on the Mounty if it only has a fill plug? Not sure why Ford chose to do that seeing as how the transfer case and rear end both have drain and fill plugs. I read that the bottom most bolt can be drilled as it would pass through the housing? Not sure how that would even work.

Pump it out through the fill hole.

I'm not too familiar with the 02+ Explorers/Mountaineers, but if it's like the 95-01 Explorers and 98+ Rangers, the front diff is tucked up right behind the front crossmember, about 1/2" away from it. Removing the cover is impossible without removing the whole diff assembly from the vehicle.

That will definitely do the trick, for not many $$.

The smaller diameter black hose will enable you to get to the very bottom of the pumpkin, and into any nooks and crannies as well.

(Just DO NOT lose that hose into the housing!
