Best Lawn and Garden battery

Deka

That is what came in my Ferris, still in it 7 years later
Deka is https://www.eastpennmanufacturing.com/ which is my neck of the woods. I've seen one of their trucks at a loading docks at the Lowe's where I work part time in OPE.

Lead acid batteries are heavy and expensive to ship. It wouldn't surprise me if all of the U1 batteries sold in my area at Tractor Supply and Walmart also come from that same plant. What you get may depend upon where you live. Life expectancy could be affected by the retailer's demands upon the supplier in terms of warranty support.

This is a short and sweet explanation of why there is no magic battery brand. As stated earlier, you can change the construction and chemistry, but it will cost you. https://www.eastpennmanufacturing.com/ also makes AGM batteries.

The present state of the art in batteries is LiFePO4, or Lithium Iron Phosphate. These batteries can be discharged at rate in excess of 1C, meaning a 35 Ah can be discharged at 35 amps. They are also rated for 3-5000 discharge cycles at 80% or of original capacity. What's more, they can be safely discharged 100% vs. 50% for AGM or 20% for your run of the mill sealed lead acid battery.

Walmart agm power sports battery, made by JCI. $20 more than a flooded battery, smaller, but roll the dice it may be a better way to go. The oem gel cell in my ztr lasted 8 years.

There is a magic brand...it is whichever is the heaviest battery of the same size.
I know a little bit about batteries. Have an off-grid solar garage which runs off 8 Trojan T-105 batteries and a 1.6Kw solar array. Back when A123 was still in business, I used 16 of their LiFePo4 26650 cells to make a battery for my race vehicle. It weighed 3.5lbs instead of the 70lb battery it replaced...but it was only 12Ah.
In a lawnmower, going LiFePo isn't worth the expense, in my opinion anyway, then you have the form issue as most mowers have at least a partially closed in battery location. There are some companies who started making motorcycle and ATV LiFePo batteries that are the same sizes as the FLA batteries they replace, one of those might fit a mower.
