I've used just about every brand of gas sold around here. My cars run the same, regarless of brand, including the no-name stuff.

i like using amoco gas, quick star to be specific. iv used it twice now, and when i drive, i can hear my intake, makign a noise, similir to when seafoam is sucked into it. makes me think, the detergency of that gas is better, my car seemed to love it! comapred ot moblie, shell, citgo, getty or gulf. 95 neone here. 87 octane.
Why will you not run Shell? I have heard it is one of the better gasolines.

required to label the pumps as far as alcohol
content and there is no checking of the quality
of fuel in this state and we are known for
being the dunping ground for bad gas. Stay away
from BP as they have been known to up there
alcohol content over 20%. Sheetz is another one
that has done this. Stick with Shell or a Marathon that does not blend with ethanol.
Your mileage will be better.

Mine? Safeway at the bottom of Big Rock road in Duvall. Great gas (dunno what brand), huge volume, lowest price PLUS I get a .06$ gallon discount with my silly Safeway card.
Easy. Oh and if your car requires premium, looks like they have that, too. Ody doesn't seem to give a rat. Volvo does get slightly better MPG with higher octane.

Okay, this may be a dumb question. But, I was looking at Marathon's website, and it says they make 100% Gasoline, Gasoline with 10% Ethanol, and Gasoline with Oxygenates. How do I know at the pump which gasoline I am getting? I didn't see anything at the actual gas station, and I don't think Ohio has any regulations on it. But, I am not sure.

Well, I have found that Shell is the only gasoline in Columbus that is worth getting. My Jetta runs pretty good after about two tanks of v-power. Pretty much hates all other gas. I get about 350 miles in one tank of v-power, and get about 300 with Sunoco, Speedway, Marathon, or BP. I won't put any other gasoline in my car except the name brands, it has mostly been Sunoco, but Shell seems to run a little better in it.
I have found the same thing Coop. The only other
gas that does as good is a Marathon that I know

The only gas station within ten miles of me is Chevron and the price now is only a few cents more than the next closest pump which is at a supermarket and is basically no name gas. Since it is closer and the price is about the same, I fill up with Chevron every time. It seems to perform well in my 2006 Honda truck. I also use FP60 at one ounce per five gallons of gas. I don't think I can go wrong with this, however, if Chevron was say a dime a gallon higher than the competitors I would probably switch.

A few years ago, when I had my 81 VW Rabbit, I usually got regular (87) at Meijer. Then one time I got regular (87) from Shell, and it didn't knock at all when I went up the big hill on my way to college. I switched to Shell.
Now Admiral sells midgrade (89) for the same price as regular, so I've been getting that. Also, there's a local chain of A-Kay's gas stations, all of which were once Shell stations, and they get their gas from Walters-Dimmick just like this area's Shell stations.
As for premium, I have run Shell 93 octane in my 1970 Nova for years. I replaced the heads a couple years ago (an upgrade), and I took the intake off this spring... heads and intake are just about as clean as when I put them on two years ago. Now, you must keep in mind that I drive my Nova pretty much only to the dragstrip and back, so it's way lower mileage than a daily driver, but I was still happy with the cleanliness as compared to other people's pleasure cars' intakes.

Murphy USA, gives better mpg than the local Quik-trip in my area (based on consistent driving styles and fill-ups at the same fuel pump each time). I also add in Amsoil P.I., but am considering FP60 after I use up the Amsoil P.I.

Murphy here (Lousy-ana) has Spur stations, and also supplies the gas for the local Wal-Mart. My MB takes premium. As of today, it's $2.85 at Spur, $2.77 at Evil-Mart, and $2.96 (!) at the local Chevrons on the West Bank. The Chevrons in the suburbs out to the west are .10/gal more than that!
My car gets the same mileage on Murphy as it does on Chevron. The thought that I'm saving from 12 to 22 cents a gallon is a big charge, too.

I keep trying other brands, and the Neon keeps telling me it likes Chevron best. This is whether I use the FP/Neutra "Molabrew" or not. Here lately I use the FP/Neutra mix religously. Difference can be as much as 6 mpg between Chevron & other brands. Recently got 30.41 mpg on a tank of "Valero"(formerly Diamond Shamrock) gas. Yesterdays fillup, on a tank of Chevron, showed 36.34 mpg(294 miles, 8.09 gal) running the AC over half of that, on *Regular*!
I tried some WalMart gas a few years ago, before I "discovered" FP. At the time I had been getting a monotonous 33 mpg- the WM gas dropped that to 26 mpg!

Luckily I can get Chevron as cheap as anything else just a short drive away in Gilmer, TX. Filled up yesterday, price was $2.55.9 for Chevron regular. For whatever reasons, Gilmer often has the cheapest gas prices in our area.
