I am asking this for my parents that own a 05 jeep unlimited. I was just wondering what the best fluid for their transfer case would be? thanks in advance!

Depends what type of lube it calls for. Check the owner's manual. My Sport Trac's t-case calls for Mercon ATF, so I put Mobil 1 ATF in it. If the Jeep t-case calls for gear lube, then I would suggest either Mobil 1 or Redline.

Should be listed right in the owners manual. I'm unsure of the x-case in the Unlimited. If it's a NV2xx then it probably takes ATF. Your only question then will be which ATF to put in it. In my NV231, I use Mobil 1 ATF.

i believe the nv247 takes what chysler calls nv247 transfer case fluid. not saying that is the case you have. but if you do find out the specs on that fluid and match it up to your favorite brand

Mopar ATF+4 is what it calls for, and being a semi-syntheic, it works great. The NV247 "RockTec" T case takes about 2 quarts of the stuff. If it's just an Unlimited TJ and not the Unlimited "Rubicon" model the it will have a NV 231 T case which uses the same fluid but a bit less.

I was extremely pleased with the results when I put Amsoil ATF in the transfer cases of both my Jeeps. The Wrangler could be a bugger to get into 4L at times, but after the Amsoil it shifted a lot smoother. My wifes Cherokee shifted smoother as well and now has about 30K miles on the transfer case fluid (it's due to be changed out this spring).

I've since sold the Wrangler but the current owner still keeps Amsoil ATF in the transfer case.
