Jeep T case

Gents The Daughters 2000 Jeep Wrangler is due for an oil change in the transfer case. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what would be the best lube? Best regards. John

That case calls for Automatic trans fluid.

I just drained and refilled my 2000 Wrangler with Amsoil ATF. It shifts smoother now than it ever did, even when new.

I too used Amsoil ATF in my wife's 97 Wrangler. Other than being a pain to do due to the transfer case guard, seems to work just fine.
Changed both front & rear differentials while under the car that day, also to Amsoil gear lube.

That's no kidding about the transfer case shield. What a PITA!

I did mine w/ Mobil 1 ATF on my wife's ..I also did the differentials with M1 gear lube.

Any Dex III ATF will work fine in the NP231J transfer case. It's up to you to decide whether you want a synthetic or conventional ATF. It only takes a little over 1qt to fill it up so I always use Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF. Easy to find at Autozone for $4.89 qt.
