I don't pretend to know what's best for people and their different locales but Ballistol works just fine for me in Southern California. Plus it's good for lots of things not just firearms.

Cast your gun in a block of paraffin wax.
Won't rust even submerged in a mix of sea water, vinegar and hydrogen peroxide.

I'm going to have to check out the corrosionX, I've heretofore been using either WD40 Specialist LTCI or just using my preferred CLP.

Mostly though I've been using Radcolube as a CLP, which is similar to G96 in one of the few lubes that meets MIL-PRF-63460F TY:A

I've never been a CLP guy until I started using this product. The M249 SAW testing in the standard is particularly tough. I still generally view cleaning, lubricating, and protecting at three separate functions, but for a 3-in-1 I'm a fan.

I generally only use stuff like this on my pistols and semi autos. Bolt rifles get separate products for all 3 tasks, with the CLP potentially serving as the "protect" part based on the fairly stringent testing of the standard. It's more than adequate for my needs.

CorrosionX is a darn good product, it is a liquid, thin film. They also make a product called MaxWax, thicker when applied, dries to something like a waxy coating and is absolutely spectacular with it's ability to seal up metal parts in a more harsh environment. Better than Boeshield or LPS3 by an order of magnitude. It rivals AV30 or other extremely high end coatings. Waxy and tough, without being oily or hard. Works incredibly well on uncoated parts such as a Ford driveshaft yoke, and attracts no dirt.

Of note, the Aviation CorrosionX (blue can) and the standard (red can) are the same product, and the company says so. The blue can is Mil Spec.

CorrosionX is also a spectacular lubricant due to its polar bonding technology. It is very well known in the electric motor/RC and hobby fields as the best motor lube. This also makes it a perfect choice for firearms. It is far less likely to attract dust/dirt than most oils. It is roughly a 10 viscosity oil, at 47 cSt @ 40°C

Blue and Red can = Same product
Yellow can = Thicker, dries tough

Sounds like the yellow stuff is a great modern alternative to something like Cosmoline, the bane of Milsurp guys the world over.

Living in the mostly dry climate of AZ, I dont have too much of a corrosion problem.
I do like to use the Corrosion X, which I always have around. If I am going to leave
the firearms in the safe for a couple of months before shooting again, I just lightly coat
them with RIG, wipe off and they seem good to go.

I've been using Ballistol for years but I bought a large can of G96 last year. It's good stuff. On my blued revolvers, I use this stuff on the exposed blueing. It's pricey though.

Another vote for Renaissance wax....I read somewhere it's used on museum pieces...there are times when you want longevity/protection more than lubrication...

I bought some too, I tried it for the first time Sunday on one of my shotguns. I heard of it long ago but never tried it, hopefully it's as good as I've read.
