Upon reading the sticky "What oil should I use? What is the BEST oil?"

https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/what-oil-should-i-use-what-is-the-best-oil.119027/

...I created a topic asking for recommendations as to motor oil, and got some very good advice.

New to the site, I'm hoping for some info on filters.

I drive a 2000 Jeep Wrangler with a 4.0L inline 6 cylinder. It's got about 117k miles on it, does not use any oil, lifters tick a little. I drive about 250-300 miles a week, most of it on winding roads and with quite a few short trips (trip < 10 minutes). No towing, some hard acceleration. I have changed my oil and filter every 3K miles to date (I know, maybe overkill). I use conventional oil.

Until recently, I had used "orange cans of death" since high school...never put much thought into it. About 6 months ago, I read a bunch of stuff on the Fram conundrum, and started using Bosch/Purolator, P1's and "white cans."

Have I ever known anyone who's engine blew up as the direct result of a Fram filter? No, but it looks like I can do better for the same money.

My questions to the community are; what brand of oil filter do you like? What do you recommend based on my maintenance/driving habits? What is your experience with OCOD? Who recycles used filters?

Anyone with Jeep experience...pipe up!

Welcome back this morning, we talked about oil last night...lol Millions of people have used OCOD's with no problems, would I use one? I would try to make my own oil filter out of a Coke can and Charmin Ultra Soft before using a FRAM Extra Guard. The only FRAM that is good and I consider one of the best out there is the EXTENDED GUARD. They are very well built. I use Denso for my Altima, yet to see a better filter. And I get what ever is on sale with the "deal of the month at AAP" M1, K&N, Bosch Distance Plus. WIX are Great. Of the filters I've cut open (P-classic and P1 and MANN) WIX had the strongest media out of those...though there is a coil spring valve that takes up room in the can so you lose a little Media Area. You can't go wrong with any filter mentioned above (except Fram OC). I don't like e-core filters like AC Delco or walmart ST. But some love them. Just pure opinion on that one. RP makes a great filter bit too expensive for me. See what others have to say. I stand strong behind those recommendations and use them in my babies.

A Purolator Oil Filter should be fine, the PureOne might be overkill.
