ok guys, it been bother me very long time now, I need get rid of that lucas 80w90 with ford addictive. it work fine,no problem , its under 3k miles. but I just dont like lucas brand at all.I dont know why I use it in first place ,mabe because the bottle say " run cool and quiet " and " climb addictive " . when ever I look at my car, I want to change that rear end fluid out for something else. event I have no problem with it.

Most properly gm 10 bolt is [censored] rear end, so I need the most shock absorbing conventional oil I can get. I want keep this rear end long as possible, im not doing burn out or abuse it. I was thinking Chevron Delo ESI gear oil, but I dont know where I can find it. What do you guys think ? thanks.

Red Line gear oil, but that's not a panacea.

A light foot, a stock/weak clutch, and non-side-stepping helps keep them alive, the 10 bolt that is. At least you got rid of the c-clips.

If it's working why mess with it? And, if the rear end is messed up why not just rebuild it? It's a Camaro not some POS. Show some love for your ride.

that y i want that [censored] lucas out off my camaro lol. I have bad experiment on Lucas oil stabilizer.

get a TA cover and it will hold up fine. i put 440 hp to a 7.5 in a 3rd gen(weaker 26 spline) with a ta cover and yukon c-clip axles, it held up fine.. even with slicks.
the ta cover is about 150 bucks but its worth it!

oh and i used storebrand 80/90 with store brand friction mod

Mine also held up just fine for 110K miles (until I wore it out!), even with the weaker yet 4.10s, and MANY drag strip launches with drag radials.

I DO have the cover that electro mentioned, albeit a MAC.

I've used the Lakewood BFL, and Torco RGO as mineral based gear oils, and now Red Line as a synthetic (group 4/5) based lube.

They ALL seemed just fine, but if you are really worried about shock loading, you can use an 80/85W-140 mineral based fluid, especially in the spring/summer in your area of the country.

I don't think any oil is going to stop axles from breaking or pinon shafts from shearing off. Thats the 2 problems I had with 10 bolt GM rear ends. Never had any trouble with the gears wearing out.

sticky tires and hard launches is what does em in, the T/A cover can help. also Redline Heavy Shockproof. i'm running Valvoline DuraBlend 80W-90 but i have the torsen. you need the limited slip additive.

when you get inside tire spin exiting turns you'll know the auburn is done

the 3rd gens are bad about spitting the carrier out on the track as well.

Fluid can't make up for overstressed components and metal fatigue.

Quite true.

But unless he has the coin right now to step up to either a 12 bolt, 9", or S60, setup for a 4th gen f body (~$2400.00 minimum, before installation, unless he does that himself), the op was asking how to get the most protection possible for this weakish, parts bin rear axle.
