Feel free to send it my way, i'll run it for 5k!

I like Pennzoil conventional, because for my application it runs smoother than the others I have tried. I am running it for an ARX treatment. It also has a good Moly count.

jeeeez, your nuts man. your burning money and killing the planet with oil wasting habits like yours.

get over it. your stang isn't so special that it needs new oil every hundred miles.

Geez guys, cut the dude some slack!!! Do YOU own this or any 500 hp supercharged Mustang? NO. I'm sure he knows what's up with it and the tune, etc. This is not a Toyota Corolla; it has forced induction, likely runs a bit on the rich side, gets the [censored] revved out of etc. etc. etc.

I'd be changing the [censored] out of the oil as well!

Now, on to the topic at hand

The big question as to oil choice for this engine: solid or roller lifters? The next questions would be oil pressure at what operating temp, what kind of oil pump (pressure/volume etc.).

If it's a standard oil pump with a roller valvetrain, any SM/GF-4 rated dino oil would work fine; I'd choose 10w30 myself (I can't wait for the "cold startup concerns" forthcoming - a blown Mustang likely doesn't get driven in the snow

).

If it has a solid lifter cam, something like Rotella 10w30 would be better. If you could find Rotella 10w30, I'd run it either way.

If you want ultimate protection, use something like Redline either way.

I know everyone on here would prefer synthetic oil but am curious to hear everyones opinion on the most popular dino oil. If there were no synthetic oils which one would buy?

Actually, I wouldn't prefer a synthetic oil.

If I HAD to choose only one DINO oil....

Rotella T 15W40. Game over.

I change frequently not because I question an oils ability. I just personally like to keep fresh oil in the motor. As long as an oil can protect some serious revs and heat while its in my motor thats what I care about. LOL

Fresh looking oil on the dipstick does not mean that it is fresh, A blown mustang engine driven like it is supposed to be driven will beat up the best conventional oil in one night

, I work with a shop that only does mustangs and I see it all the time, a sure way to keep the customer coming back is sell him some Castrol GTX hope that answers your question

of course not! change it every 3000 miles and smile be happy.
any oil that last 3000 miles cant be bad.
that is what the stang shop preaches anyway.

An updated version of the GM6094M Approved Engine Oils list is available in the Reference Guide section of the TechLink website. GM has recently conducted a test program to check several of the oils on the Approved Oils list for compliance with the GM6094M specification. One of the oils tested during this program, Castrol GTX, was found not to meet the GM6094M specification, and so this oil has been removed from the Approved Oils list.

The question of the best conventional motor oil will never be settled. And who would want for it to be settled? The question keeps us arguing here, right? And you also have to remember that it can change through time also. Maybe Pennzoil is the best for ten years and then maybe Valvoline is the best for five years. Who knows.

It also depends on the vehicle. Some cars or trucks may just 'take' to a certain brand of oil. And a diesel car or truck requires a different oil and frequently a different viscosity than gasoline engine cars or trucks.

If you change the oil every 3000-5000 miles/3 months/6 months it probably does not matter all that much what brand you use as long as you use a motor oil that meets all of the requirements for your car or truck.

To BennyL... my stang isn't that special? If you saw my stang and motor you would pamper it also buddy. Thanks Drew99gt who could see things my way. My money and my time so for those you want to critize while they are driving 200k miles corolla's and change there oils once a year can not relate. The topic is best dino oil in ones opinion not asking for opinions on anything else. No offense to anyone just do not think there is any need to critize when all that is being asked is people's choice of dino oil.

I would run Quaker State Green bottle.

But any of theother oils are just as good.

You cant go wrong with any of these:

(in no specific order)
Chevron
Havoline (Texaco)
Castrol
Shell
Pennzoil
Valvoline

Just use a good filter and change them around 3000 miles unless your vehicle has an oil life monitor.

Same as for Synthetic. Or group 3 synthetic.

The oil companies change thier formula everytime the government, EPA, or API??, changes the S* rating requirment to meet smog regulations.

If there were no synthetics I'd probably buy Amsoil XL series, Mobil 1, Rotella, or Havoline (in that order), depending on the application. Or, with some BOGO or rebates, Pennzoil Platinum or Quaker State Advanced/Q-Torque/Q-Horsepower.
