best cleaner for car innards

Hi,

What is the best cleaner product for the innards of a car, things like door panels and control stalks? I want something that will not attract dust and will not be greasy at all... Is anything better than good old water?

I saw a guy usuing tire wet on the door panels and dash of his car!! I didnt ask questions.

303 leaves a bit of a film and evaporates to a film on the glass, which I dont want.

Been very happy with the Meguiar's Quick Interior Detailer product, safe for pretty much any interior surface, leaves a slight clean scent behind, and is very low gloss. I usually follow-up with some 303 Aerospace Protectant for more UV protection. Bought mine from AutoGeek:

Keeps interiors looking brand new.

On used cars, I use a vinyle cleaner and then stick solely with the above.

Interior plastics are very hardy so almost any good all-purpose cleaner will do the trick. Dilute it with water and clean away.

I prefer Einszett Plastic-Vinyl Cleaner for interiors but its expensive and hard to find. I haven't tried the new Meguiars Quik Interior Detailer but I've heard good things about it: http://www.meguiars.com/?vinyl-rubber-plastic-protectants/Quik-Interior-Detailer

Are you referring to 303's Aerospace Protectant or their Aerospace Cleaner? The Protectant is going to leave a gloss behind while the Cleaner should not (doesn't for me).

My first choice is Meguiar's Quick Interior Detailer. The stuff is just awesome. You can use it on basically any material inside your car, even glass! It leaves a nice clean matte look...no glossy, greasy finish. Best of all, it smells really good.

Another thing you can try is 6:1 ration of Water & Woolite.

I recently used Meguiar's Quick Interior Detailer for the first time. I can't really say how good it is as I feel my interior was pretty clean before I used it, but I do like the smell of the product.

I'm trying a knockoff from a dollar store. So far, so good.

Auto Zone carries this stuff called BlueMagic Leather & Vinyl Cleaner. It doesn't leave parts oily or glossy. I don't know if it has the protective properties of 303, but it is a very good cleaner.

I have heard alot of good things about megs quick interior detailer... I have not tried it myself but it seems to work quite well.

Another vote for the Megs Quick Interior Detailer. I love the stuff. You can use it practically anywhere, even on glass and it won't streak. Plus, it has a nice clean smell to it.

by saying best means you have to look at the type of material you're cleaning. For leather, and i guess vinyl too, I've been using lexol. it can be found at some auto stores like pepboys, and online. I've noticed it seems to tighten up the leather as well as clean it, but after using it you definitely need to follow up with a leather conditioner. For that i've used zaino leather cond. and mother's- basically any white thick liquid conditioner would be good; it has that nice new leather smell to it and doesn't leave the surface greasy, slippery or glossy. Nothing worse than doing a leather dash and having it reflect sunlight back into the windshield when you're driving, i used 303 once and had to take it off cause i couldn't see the reflection was so bad sometimes.
For plastic cleaning, carpets, and tough vinyl like floormats I use cleaner's my old man has from his autodetailing business, one's called pink all-purpose cleaner. I don't know if there's an equivalent sold on store shelves.
