I saw someone refer to the best place to buy oil filter cutters. I can't find the post now. Maybe it was eBay? Looks like there are a few options on Amazon for only $17. I've got a few oil changes coming up on VRP, and I'm curious what I might find in the filters. What is everyone buying these days?

Hard to beat this Longacre brand knockoff for ~ $17 with the coupon selected. The spare cutting blade is a nice bonus too, although I'm still on the original blade with my Longacre cutter.

I got the same one posted above on AliExpress a few years ago. Paid around the same price. $17 or so. Used properly (go slow, turn a 1/4 turn, then spin filter, quarter turn, spin filter, etc.) and the blade will last a long long time. Blades are cheap anyway, so not really an issue. People run into problems when they are too aggressive with it. Slow and steady. These work great.

I have 2 .I have a longacre clone and this one. This twin beam is better quality. Keeps the cutter more stable. I have seen it as low as $16 . Cut over 50 filters mostly harley.

Can you post the link to this one? Unfortunately the screenshot you posted contains no identifiable information for it. $2 seems worth it to get a better quality one.

What about a pipe cutter that plumbers use if big enough?
Others have tried them in the past and found them to crush the can more than cut the filter. I wouldn't recommend one.

I like the one Whip City has, where the idler wheels have some support. No link though, post one if you can.
WCW uses the Summit version of the original Jegs filter cutter. Summit version moved the wheels closer together and they are unpainted. It is better to cut open smaller filters like the 6607/7317/4967. Looks like Jegs still the original and too far apart to work well on smaller filters. Below is link to Summit. I see they now have a separate kit too to replace wheel if desired. It's a heavy duty cutter for sure. Looks like Speedway Motors has a less expensive version without replaceable wheel.

Much has changed with cutters since I first started. As seen above, now there's lots of reasonably priced cutters on Amazon and ebay. Back then there was the Jegs then the top of the line and pricey Longacre. Proform cutter came along some time in there.

I'm still using my ~$15 made in Taiwan HF exhaust cut off tool purchased 2010-11. No longer sold.
