I need to grab some antifreeze, and I need the old school green stuff (ethylene glycol). No 50/50 premix, orange,or long life, just the good old fashioned green. I haven`t been antifreeze shopping in forever. What`s the best, and or options for this stuff?

If you need regular ethylene gycol (green) I wouldn't hesitate to use any of the majors: Zerex, Peak, Prestone, Texaco, etc altho I am partial to Zerex. (Valvoline)

+1. If you want a concentrated formula that is similar to Green but no silicates, then Toyota Red, Nissan, or the rest of the original Japanese versions of anti-freeze are another good option. I think silicates won't normally harm the waterpump or anything else and offer a little extra protection.

Just to be clear: almost ALL coolants are ethylene glycol based. Even DexCool, G-05, P-HOAT Asian vehicle types, etc. are mostly ethylene glycol. About the only one that isn't is Sierra or other "low-tox" coolants, which are based on propylene-glycol. Think of ethylene glycol or propylene glycol the way you think of an oil base stock. What differentiates all the coolants isn't ethylene glycol, its the additive package (in the case of coolants- corrosion inhibitor, anti-cavitation, etc. additives).

What you're really asking for is INORGANIC inhibitor antifreeze. Zerex makes one, and most parts store "house" brands that don't claim "long life" are also old-style inorganic inhibitor coolants. Some HD/diesel coolants are also inorganic still.
