I was thinking... I am not taking my PureONEs to their potential, all I probably need is a supertech 7317. It has shown to have excellent filtration, metal end caps, rubber anti drain back valve should be fine for short OCIs, it's a very tough champion filter for about $3..

Do you think there is any better bang for the buck filter??

weather your taking full advantage of the P1 or not is has very good filtering even for a short OCI. I'd stick with P1 or a bosch

My assessment (which is more of an experienced opinion) is that PureOne is about the best bang for the buck. I still think you're wasting money below (something like) 5k-10k of use. Especially if you're doing 10k+/year. UNLESS you're using it for ONE YEAR or at least 2 OCI's. You'll barely get on the back end of the curve.

If you're the 3k-5k OCI type (in the same 10k+ annual mileage) AND INSIST on changing it every time ..then any $3.50 or less filter is your best bang for the buck. MC is a good one. ProSelect ..ST

Napa gold goes on sale for half price, once or twice a year. Bosch is excellent, and Pureone is also excellent. to save money, just change the filter every other time, that's like getting a half price filter. i know people say that's like putting on dirty underwear after a bath, but i've always been doing that and so far so good. only problem, modern filters are very tiny, so i try to find a larger one with same threads, which means i can argue for changing every other time.

Define best,in general... 3 to 7.5 thousand Supertech or which ever not made in China filter is on sale, 7.5 to 12 thousand M1 or P1 types 12 to 25+ miles the Amsoil or Donaldson or Fleetguard with the Syntech material. But remember the most important filter is the air cleaner. No matter which oil filter is used a poor filtering air cleaner or a leak in the intake will negate any advantage the most expensive filter that you can buy.

Purolator classic or wix. I dont worry about the filter price diff of a 1/2 gallon of gas when it come to filters - I'll be cheap elsewhere. Like at wendys: double cheesburger 99c, small chili 1.49, chicken filet sandwich 99c and a small value fry 99c: total: $4.46 + tax. I bring my own drink

Yeah that my pitiful lunch 3x/wk on the road ;(

Something tells me you'll be using ST's one day...mainly because statin drugs are WAY expensive.

Seriously, I hope you're mixing a salad into your regiment once in awhile.

I cheap out at lunch too. Sonic kids meal. I take the toy home later to my son. Small hamburger, apple slices, fruit punch and toy.

In fact, I eat kids meals everywhere I go. US proportions are so insane I almost gag half the time I see what comes out on a plate. My wife and I are always full on the free bread and salad or salsa/chips by the time it comes anyhow. We couldn't even get 1 order down after that, let alone 2.

p.s. what are ST's?

What is important? Metal end caps, thread end bypass, your money staying in America, price? Price, metal end caps? The cheap Purolator made ones at AAP.

Thread end bypass, keeping money in America, and price? Find an ST Ecore number.

American, metal end caps, thread end bypass? Try Wix or one of the Clarcor brands.

important for me:

-Filtration
-Price
-That it can take a beating (I autocross and drag race)
-that it flows well in start-up

I do not care one bit where my money goes
