What is your favorite auto parts store and why?

I hear that Rock Auto has really good prices. Anyone use them?

i have but only ordered one time from them. A composite headlight as one of mine really yellowed and then the blinker below that as it had also yellowed. I got the insurance rate replacement parts and they are doing fine in the last few years they have been in my truck. Think it came out to be like 70 to 80 bucks for both parts.

I have a love/hate affair with all of them. Lately, Advance Auto has been my favorite for local parts.

However, Advance Auto's online store (Parts America?) is awful. Last order I sent them took weeks to send as they were out of stock of a lot of things in my order. Of course, they made no mention of this when I shopping or checking out. Here I am, with a broken car, waiting on parts I bought online that were weeks away. I was slightly cheesed.

I complained and all they did was say how Parts America has nothing to do with Advance Auto and how there was no way that Advance Auto's online ordering could say if anything was out of stock. I throw the cow patty flag on this, as they were related enough to take my money! Oh yeah, the webpage says "Advanced Auto, powered by Parts America!" Yet, no relation? Ha!

When the stuff finally came, it came in six different boxes spread out over a three week period. They only sent me one tracking number, so after I got the first box, I called to complain that my order had been shorted. Then they "found" the rest of the tracking numbers.

I'm trying to remember the online place that was around about ten years ago. They were like the Amazon of online auto parts - everything was low priced, shipping was cheap, and you got your stuff quickly. I remember getting four Sensatrac shocks for my Ranger for like $60 shipped with a coupon I had. What was there name? I forget. Might have been CarParts.com, but I recall them closing and all traffic for that page being redirected to NAPA or something. Now that page seems like it's back and working, but the format is unfamiliar.

Rockauto (used multiple times with great experiences), Autobarn.net (will probably get my business in the future due to great prices on Bendix parts with super low shipping charges) and ImportRP.com (a friend works there, so I get great prices).

online, rockauto is great, ordered a few times, great items and prices. performance parts, summit. locally, I prefer auto zone to advance, and here in PA, national auto stores is good, and there is now one nearby home.

I've ordered a number of things from Summit Racing and it always comes very quickly for in stock items (they tell you before check-out). I ordered from Rockauto as well at least once, no complaints. GMPartsdirect.com for GM parts, they come in a reasonable amount of time with no issues and the prices are good.

Locally I typically go to the local place that I don't believe is part of a chain. Same knowledgeable guys are always in there and they have Wix filters and other name brands I like. I only have been in an Advance Auto twice. I bought wiper blades that were no good but got the BOGO free on PP that I was happy with.

I think it was carparts.com -- they closed and redirected to JC Whitney.

I've had good luck with Rockauto.com. If I need something locally (beyond oil or filter) I always go to NAPA. They cost a little more but the guy always gives me the correct part and seems to appreciate my business.

For the everyday stuff (supplies and fluids), I tend to go to Advance.

For the real parts, and for parts on tasks that I only want to do ONCE (alternators, belts, filters), I go to NAPA.

I deal with Napa here locally for most items. They seem to try and please and don't ask questions when the stuff they sell is not up to snuff, they try and make it right.Summit is good for special stuff that Napa doesn't carry.

I use Rock Auto for everything I can buy from them. The only drawback is if you have to send something back. I had a problem with some Raybestos brake pads (highly recommend against Raybestos) that I had to send back. I had to purchase some new ones first from Rock Auto and then send the defective ones back for a refund. Not too bad, but not as easy as going down the street and getting an exchange. I would still highly recommend Rock Auto, by far the best prices and quality products.

AAP for me down here, I like Rock Auto.... but for the same reason above I buy everything local.

I also like AutoZone for their 'Rewards Card'

Online I like rockauto and summit racing
Brick and mortar I prefer NAPA or the local independent. Either of them are more expensive then online but warranty issues are delt with much easier.
