Best ATF for a 2004 Chevy Impala SS

What do you guys think would be the best ATF to use? My son has an 03 Monte Carlo SS that also needs changing...

I am thinking Maxlife, Mobil 1...

I'd go with the Maxlife based on how my 4T65 shifts smoothly and consistently with it.

There is none better than Amsoil ATF period. Expensive yes, PIA to get, yes, worth it, yes.

What kind of a fluid change are you planning on doing. Cooling line flush?

The worst would be going to a shop and having them use some generic stuff where they add some additives to make it good for your vehicle.

I did a Vac suction drain and fill (6 quarts) about 3 months ago and will be doing a pan drop/new filter in a few days. Thanks.

Purchased 2 gallons Maxlife ATF and a ACDELCO TF304 filter...

Amsoil Synthetic or Red Line D4 ATF, all others are subpar.

I have used Mobil 1 ATF since they started making the stuff in the early 90s. I have never had a transmission fail(or PS pump for that matter) using Mobil 1 ATF.

Did the change and so far so good. The pan was pretty clean and everything else looked like new.

Transmission shifts very smooth with Maxlife and seems to work much better then previously using Dex3...
