Since I started the notorious POS-engine thread a while back, thought I'd throw out another one.

Realizing of course that beauty is completely in the eye of the beholder, there still may be a *smidgen* of commonality when it comes to what is attractive or f-ugly when it comes to automobiles.

Having said all that, what do you consider to be the best- (and worst-) looking cars ever produced? I'm talking in the "normal" category...no ultra-expensive, rare, collector type cars (e.g. Rolls-Royce, Bugatti, Maserati, Cobra GT, etc.) I'm talking about cars that are for the most part mass-produced and reasonably attainable to the masses. Not concerned with time period. Also, not concerned with quality...just looks.

I'll go first.

Best-looking: Mercedes-Benz E320 BLUETEC Sedan, 2007

Worst-looking: French Citroen DS (1955-1975) (Ughhhh!)

The DS is still a beauty! Its design and incorporated technology were stunning years beyond the car's inception.

Apart from the SLK I find the whole current MB lineup hideous.

Best looking: Corvette C6 and C5, Ferrari F430 and 360 Modena

Worst looking: Honda Element, Toyota Echo (especially the 2 door)

There are so many good looking cars, I can't choose just one "the one." Let me just mention one favorite: Talbot Lago T150 SS

PS: The 2CV may not be beautiful, but it has character, is cute, and a total babe magnet!

I agree with Patman on the best looking.

Worst looking: 80'/90's Buick Skylark.

Good Lord, this is hard. So many cars, so little garage space (and $)
300SL (the gullwing coupe, which I could now not afford)
Studebaker Starlight/Starliner
'49 Ford sedan
Morgan (any)
Series III Jag XJ-6 saloon
Also, the DS is a gorgeous car, as are many Citroens that followed. Most current Benzes are hideous.

Sorry, my choices are mostly over 100 grand. Well, not all are.

Now Pat, you're not playing by the rules. You listed two cars that are in the $150K to $200K range.

Behave yourself!

I guess I'm unimaginative in that I can only think of cars being produced now, otherwise the choices are mind-boggling.

Worst might be the Jeep Compass. I'm fine with Jeep producing a crossover-type vehicle that's not all Jeep tough, but dang this thing is ugly.

Best looking? Hard to say; that Mercedes sedan is handsome but kind of bland, too. On the cheaper end, I find the scion TC to be a really sharp little car. For a little more money I would have to say the Audi TT. Classic.

Got to LOVE the DS. It still looks like it's from the not-too-distant future.

Patman, I had a feeling you would mention the C6
When is you wife gonna let you get a new one.

As for worst looking, remember the Capri from the 80's with the bubble hatch that was very similar to the Mustang GT. My neighbor had one and I could never understand why he bought such an ugly car.

I have a weakness for origami cars. Giugiaro's Scirocco (Mark I) and DeLorean DMC-12 come to mind. Both cars are timeless classics.

This is my '89 Scirocco as it looked in '96. My Mark II was the best looking car I've owned. Nothing will ever compare to it (in my mind):
