Best all in one media player?

I've had 2 situations in the last several years where Mplayer handled something that VLC couldn't. Like VLC, Mplayer works on Windows, Mac and Linux; although it's nowhere near as easy to get and install.

Otherwise, VLC without any doubt.
 
VLC has pretty much every format covered along with every codec.

unfortunately for me.. i still use Winamp because I like the interface.
 
Definitely VLC, as stated repeatedly above. The interface is horrible, and some features I really appreciate are lacking, half-implemented, or broken, but it plays more often and more reliably than anything else out there. It's also easy to install and use.

Agreed. I'm a big Mplayer fan.

I don't know if it does or does not; but there is a very handy-dandy Firefox extension called VideoDownloadHelper that'll sniff out and download darn near any embedded media you can think of.
