What are the top-tier OE style replacement filters these days? I've always trusted Wix and, surprisingly, fram based on testing I saw here a long time ago. And of course, OE replacement like Motorcraft. Have times changed?

I'm currently using AC Delco Gold for my Subarus & either Motor craft or Wix for my F150. Have used Microgard for the F150 in the past. Am a happy camper so far.
This might sound crazy... but, Super Tech? Made in the USA and likely out of the same factory that a lot of other name brand filters come from. With that said, I'm not sure if I've used one myself. I typically find deals online (Rock Auto or whatever) for OEM filters. But I've definitely used Wix before as well.
If they make one for your application, a Donaldson should be pretty solid.

Not OE but the Microgard Select I just installed is a very nice filter. It's 2x media seems to be accurate.
3.5L Ecoboost
Went to O'Reilly's Auto for a Microgard MSA81025 and seemed to fit good. Claims twice the capacity and there seemed to be more pleats in the Select filter.

I've been using the STP Premium air filters and they have been good.
Those Purolators on clearance at AAP are nice, especially for the money. Some of them are popping up on clearance at Amazon as well.
I have Euros so mostly Mann, Hengst, or Mahle. In something else, I'd give that MicroGard a try.
I looked at one for my Ram. It seemed like quality, but very pricey. More expensive than Mopar. It looked very much like the Wix for the same application. Their premium filters that I’ve handled were all nice.

I was thinking of getting one for my Tacoma. Current air filter looks good still but I may swap anyway. I’m trying to replace fluids and all filters I can (within reason)

OEM for me. Cheap and efficient.
WIX and Purolator still make quality air filters. That can't be said for their oil filters.
I have used Carquest Premium, STP regular and premium, Denso, Wix, Ecogard, and EP Auto. All sealed perfectly and performed well.
