Best air chuck?

Tried a bunch of fancy ones, always come back to what I bought 50 years ago

I have several inflators I use. I have the Lock-N-Flate mounted on a Merlin, that is similar to the one Lock-N-Flate sells. I've cross checked it with my Milton, and it gauges with it pound for pound.

Which aligns itself pretty well with the TPI readers on both my Jeep and Toyota. So I know it's close enough.
Great thanks so much for the info. Do you just keep it mounted? Does air escape out of it and the air compressor tank when you are not using it? Or do I just turn the dial on the air compressor to zero and no air will come out. I guess I have to watch a few YouTube videos :)

I have one of those attached to my air compressor now. I was just trying to make it easier having to see what the pressure is
as I add air to the tire instead of having to recheck with a separate gauge. But I agree sometimes simple is easier!

@rcs - my kids got me this Jaco Inflator. Matches my Jaco Digital gauge. The chuck clips on and I have not had issue with it loosing any air. Once I'm at pressure I release the trigger to check and disconnect the chuck.

I also bought a pack of I think 20 of the valve caps with the O-ring from Amazon. First I ever thought about it was on my Pilot at a snow tire change over. I took valve cap to check/adjust pressures and it was hissing. It wasn't down much at all, maybe 2psi less than others. The valve core had come loose some. It was never touched from when it was installed probably 5 years earlier. Part of my spring/winter routine is now also check that valve core is tight. I also bought some 4 packs of valve cores that stay in my glove box just in case. Worst case I need to remove and replace then refill. I keep a small plug in inflator in each car or my Viair 88P.

That is the exact one that I wanted! BUT the Amazon reviews some folks stated it leaks and the pressure gauge itself was inaccurate. So that is why I did not purchase it.
Which really surprises me because Project Farm did a test and their digital gauge was the winner. I have their digital and analog gauges and have found them to be very accurate.

Mine actually leaked a bit at the handle plunger after a couple years. I called Jaco and they sent me a rebuild updated piece, easy to change. Gauge is accurate to my digital Elite. I used it for a while before calling them. Before fixing I actually used it as the slight bleed down process without touching the handle. It would very slowly lose .1psi so once it did I disconnected the air chuck. The letting air out process is actually squeeze handle slightly to allow air to escape. The chuck on valve has not had any issues.

They also have a lifetime warranty so if you have concern you can contact and they will fix or replace.

Oh WOW, so do I! I keep a portable inflator in my Pilot. Like I mentioned I have and keep the Slime brand TPMS (these in particular)
in my Pilot also. Did you purchase the Slime brand ones also? Oh believe me, with that one time of the valve stem being stuck in, I made sure they are all tight. I did buy a tool to check them. But I am going to buy the Slime one that give you an audible click noise when it
is tighten properly, without over tightening, since this can ruin the TPMS in the valve. Despite being a gal I am a total tool nut :)

Oh very nice! I did not know about the lifetime warranty. I will reconsider purchasing that since it is affordable! I love all of their products! I also have the Jaco Elite digital and analog.

Just register on their website. I'm not sure I did originally on the inflator but was no issue when I called.

I have the now discontinued  Harbor Freight plug in that came in the bag. Actually works pretty fast and made 60 psi for my trailer tires. The Viair 88P is not much larger but more $$. I like that it clips onto battery terminals not just power plug.

Does the 2015 Pilot have both battery terminals accessible? I have my posts on Piloteers for the 3rd gen about the added ground terminal and many other things.

Oh I will check out your posts on Piloteers! I am on there frequently! Yes the battery terminals are accessible .I did read about the Viar888. I am too skittish about attaching things to my battery. It took me awhile to get enough nerve up to add a trickle charger to it in cold weather! I use the Avid air compressor handheld that I keep in my car. I have a Craftsman pancake air compressor. I wish I would have waited and purchased a California one since they are so much more quieter.

Some of my pneumatic gauges. The digital Merlin with the Lock-N-Flate is hanging on the wall because I use it the most. Rhino isn't a bad brand of gauge. They're quite accurate when checked against the others I have.

I figure if the TPI on the vehicle coincides with 2 different gauges, I'm good to go. If it's off, it isn't going to be by much.

Love it!

I don't know how much room in storage area of the 2015. My '19 has the little cargo well. In it is what I might need since I take it on beach, hunting cabin and other. I actually have the same in each car in trunk by spare tire mostly. Compressor with tire plug kit, Flat folding emergency shovel, Tow strap, shackles, hitch pin. Things that could help others help me if needed.

My favorite is this one similar to this I bought from Astro tools a year or two ago. It was around $40 IIRC.

I have this Astro after it was recommended here.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002PUTC0M

The chuck will hold by itself but not if you bump or wiggle the air hose. I usually keep one hand on it.
Its 100% not annoying enough to spend $40 on a lock n flate end.
but since the thread title is "best air chuck"
I'd probably vote for the lock n flate.

😁 I also have a flat folding shovel my Dad gave me. I just keep a small box in the back seat on the floor with blankets, the air compressor
extra set of windshield wipers, and some tools.

Appreciate the thought and link!

one nice feature of the one I linked is it uses regular batteries (2x AA? or was it AAA?)
