Best 75w90 for the money?

check mystik web site,,farm&fleet,(wisconsin) has 75w-90 full synthetic bottles jt-7 for $8.29,,gl 4&5,,maybe a retailer in your area has it ,made by citgo,,looks like some good gear type oil and decent specs.have used it in past with no problems.

I just finished changing the gear oil in my Ram 2500 and our Expedition with Mystik 75w-90. I was happy with the specs and it is made to work with limited slip differentials. So far the limited slip in my Ram seems happy with it.

I agree @Rob_Roy with you and @facility1. My 2012 Ram seems to like the Mystik as well. FWIW, it is full synthetic on the bottle (website says semi). I put it in my front a rear diff. Switched to Mystik from M1 because of price. So far I'm not disappointed.

Possibly REDLINE MT90 . Have it GL-4 and GL-5 for the 75w90 . Had good results with the 75w90 GL-4 in several cars .

I don't think there's any proof or testing that has ever suggested there to be any noticeable difference over the course of a vehicle's lifespan in using a cheap vs expensive gear oil, provided that the vehicle is serviced and not abused. Similar to the argument over motor oils. If it meets spec it's good enough.

Alright guys, I wound up with a gallon jug of that Ultra1plus 75w90 full synthetic off amazon since I got a coupon with it. Seems fine out of the bottle. I drained out the Supertech 80w90 conventional that had 10K miles on it. It was surprisingly black, but the magnetic fill plug had no big metal chunks or even that much fine metal on it. I spent a good amount of time cleaning that axle out when I did the posi install and re gear so I don't think it was from a lack of cleaning.

Ford has issued some TSB's stating to use 75w-140. You may want to look into that. Myself, I would use the least expensive gear oil that meets the specs for your Ford 8.8.

Mobil 1 Gear Oil Has never failed to deliver for me, and you can easily get it just about anywhere.

I would think approvals should be a way of deciding what is good enough for your vehicle. Here is some store brand Canadian Tire Motomaster oil I’ve been using on my 3/4 ton Suburban along with AC Delco for some of the changes which have been every 50,000 miles. It’s a GM 14 bolt with a 10.5 “ inch gear set and 244,000 miles. The screen shot is from about 4 years ago, so the price is now closer to $20 CDN per quart.

You may be right and certainly the motor oil is made by Shell, however as recently as 2010, Citgo was making the gear oil and the grease. We need a newer data sheet.

Do you know when the TSB was released? My 2021 owners manual says to use 75w85 premium synthetic gear oil.

Stick with your manual. The TSB was issued before 2021 and I would guess it may have applied to earlier models than yours. I would still investigate applicable TSB's for your year before buying your gear oil. However 75W-90 should be fine.
