Belvedere vs. Grey Goose

Belvedere vs. Grey Goose-- which do you prefer?

I noticed at Costco tonight that Belvedere is $40 for a 1.75L whereas Grey Goose is $47 for the same amount. Naturally, I chose the Grey Goose as I am more familiar with that brand. However, does anyone have any experience with both? How do they compare to each other?

I think Belvedere is like gasoline compared to the Goose.

I'd take the Goose over most others

One of the best Vodkas I have had is Tanqeuray Sterling. It's probably about $35 for the 1.75L.
Tanqueray is better known for their gin but their vodka is pretty good too.

When mixed into a drink, I can't tell any difference between most vodkas. As long as you stick with something moderately priced (Stoli, Skyy, etc), it's all the same. [censored], at the bars I just get well vodka since I'm usually too drunk to know or care.

If you drink neat, it's a whole different discussion.

20/20 had a segment on this subject a few years ago.

90% of the vodka drinkers tested incorrectly identified the vodka's after drinking them straight.

There was one guy who loved Grey Goose and was 100% correct on the blind tests, though.

Why not buy both and have a blind test with your friends - that sounds like a fun evening!

Mohawk vodka. A gallon is like $19.00

Save the distinctive, pretty Grey Goose bottle and pour the Mohawk in it.

I bet none of your party guests will know the difference.

Tequilas? different story. I can tell Cabo from Patron from Cuervo. But to me anyway, Vodkas are much harder to discern.

For that kind of money.....Pravda is the vodka to go with....

It literally has no taste and no burn when chilled almost like water, which can be dangerous if you don't pay attention to how much you drink

I don't drink it straight so I use bottom of the barrel stuff like Smirnoff for my gimlets and martinis.

Now I've never done this with Mohawk (because it tastes like rubbing alcohol) but I've seen this method used with great success by people substituting stuff like Monopolowa or Smirnoff or another mid-priced vodka for Goose. Nobody will have any idea, but you can laugh at all the people who like the 'goose.'

Right before I changed my Brita filter I ran a large bottle of Georgi Vodka through it 3x . It was a lot easier to down . Not top shelf at all but a much smoother taste .
I had read about it and finally tried it on a whim .It took a while to filter thru .

A nice vodka is Imperia from Russian Standard .

I enjoy Tito's from Austin Texas one of the best will go head to head with any other out their. Second go to would be Kettle One.
Use to drink vodka for years and tried just about every one under the sun priced from $15 to $75 a bottle and one thing you can say price does not equal quality. Putinka and Platinum 7X are fairly cheap and I enjoy very much.

I drink and compare all from cheap to expensive the same straight and on the rocks.

I like Chopin alot top 5 for me for sure and Ciroc is unique that it is made from French grapes very good and of course only straight up on both.

I should answer the question If I had to pick and I have drinken pleanty of both Belvedere would get my vote. With that said their are more in the same price and cheaper that are better all around.

Try this out:

Buy the cheapest vodka you can find and run it through a water filter pitcher, like say a PUR, 3 times and taste the filtered vs. non-filtered vodka and you'll be amazed at how much smoother it tastes.

Bringing this topic up again, I am now on my 2nd bottle of Belvedere, in a row. It seems to be slightly smoother than grey goose, plus it's $5 cheaper-- only $40 for a handle.
