i wasnt sure what forum to put this under...
i got some belt conditioner for v belts in my car and this stuff rocks! but after i put it on i read the bottle and it said that it should not be used on grovved belts..the grovved belt on my dads car is for the compressor!! what do i do??? i drove it around and it was fine..but im worried at what it will do. it contains no oil though..it something i forgot.

I've been told by a few mechanics to never use belt dressing on ANY belts, I guess the reasoning is that it shortens the life of the belt, I'm not sure that is true though. If it says not to use on V-belts I'd think the safe thing to do would be to just change the belt.

I've found that belt dressing just stops the squeal of worn belts for a short time. The only thing that really works is a new belt. If a worn or loose belt is allowed to slip a lot, the pulley will have the groove worn, and you'll you'll have the priveldge of replacing the pulley as well as the belt.

Don't know about the multi-V belts.
