They did not look the same to me. Mint XFCE looked more like Mint. My second favourite. Xubuntu looked like a child of Ubuntu. I guess I am more visual than technical. When you talk about kernels my first thought is Corn. A repository sounds like a place where you deposit money. I do not have a lot of technical knowledge. Most of my computer knowledge has been picked up on this OIL Website. Go figure...
