Came across a tool I didn't know was available of needed.

Steck Manufacturing 35885 Bed Lifter

Reading the reviews, most found this tool well worth the price of $225 on Amazon. I likely will purchase one.

My techs made one back in the 90s when we had a large group of Chevy pickups that had fuel pump failures. The bed was lifted to gain access to the fuel tank to replace the pump. These days that issue would have become a recall. Our Chevy Fleet Rep. advised that we should never let the fuel level get below 1/2 tank low….essentially reducing these trucks to half their fuel range. Of course that didn’t fly with 90+ employees out in the field everyday.

If this isn’t a common need, I’d try using a pair of good ratchet straps connected to the tie down points with the engine hoist. For a short bed I think it would work. Or mock one of theses up with some scrap lumber for a one off?

Funny you mention this as it was the first reason I thought of for needing one of these. Went to take my Silverado to work this morning and crank no-start. Need to look at it tonight but I think it is the pump. Already have one coming just in case, yay.
