Thanks for the replies. I went with the SKF because SKF has an app where you send them pics and they will authenticate it's their bearing or a counterfeit. The box actually says made in Japan so I'll see. With so many fakes and who wants that crap.

Yes, you are right. But the majority of bearing factorys are still located in Germany, Schweinfurt, if i am right.
And SKF is known as "german thing" here in germany, because there are often the words "Made in Germany" on the package. Most people dont know what SKF stand for.

FAG and INA are competitors from Germany.

In Japan the three big manufacturers are NACHI, KOYO and NSK.

You found bearings from theses 6 companies as OEM equipment on cars and motorcycles worldwide.

Yeah, SKF had mostly factories in Germany for European market, but they spread around everywhere pretty much. IMO, gold standard, though biggest bearing was made by FAG :)

So what you are saying is SKF is the Liqui-Moly of the bearing world

I remember some big blue laser drilling machines back in the 80s that had big "Made in the USA with pride" plates on it. And yes, they where good quality. Running 3 shift with almost zero issues. I often see a differenc in size. While made in Germany is usually small imprinted somewhere, made in the USA is often bigger printed, often with the flagg.
One of germanys best tool shops "Hoffmann group" that mostly delivers tools to big companies (BMW, AUDI, MAN, SIEMENS and so on..) carrys Milwaukee electric tools. And this company only carries top quality, industrial grade tools.

Do you know the origins of the "Made in Germany" stamp on goods? It is a very interesting story. We where the chinese copy shop back then, producing cheap and bad copies. it was meant as a warning back then...

I think perceptive quality of certain stuff is associated with certain countries. In reality, a lot of good stuff comes from pretty much everywhere.
