Whats the current consensus on the best auto battery out there?
I know most are only made by a few companies. I was looking at Optima's, but have heard that their quality has gone down hill in recent years and no longer worth the money.

Battery is for my Jeep. Group 65. Thanks for any input.

AAP Autocraft Silver gets my vote. Use one of the online coupons, and make sure what they give you is a fresh one...

Kirkland Signature....at Costco.

Purchased mine about a year ago for $68...and have had no issues.

Has a 3-year full warranty....and then 92 months pro-rated. Hard to beat the price and the excellent warranty. ITs IMO....the best buy for the buck.

Agreed. Easy in, easy out; don't have to deal with sales people asking me what car I have. Pick through the shelves and get the newest one you can find. I always get enough time on them such that it's not digging out the old receipt to get some prorated pittance when they wear out.

the consensus seems to be if there's a Costco near you, get it there. #1 bang for your buck.
the batteries @ the following stores all seem to be made by Johnson Controls (folks who make Interstate Batteries)
Costco (Kirkland Signature)
Autozone (Duralast & Valuecraft)
Walmart (Everstart)
Napa (Napa)
Advance Auto Parts (not sure of brand)

Yeah I noticed when I bought a new battery early this year, the sticker was the same month I was buying it.

Another costco vote - $74 after tax.
Went in on a busy Sunday (store packed!), in/out of the auto center with a new battery in 5 mins. Has same CCA specs as the middle/upper tier batteries at autostores that cost $100+ and a better warranty.

I love all the spirited debate, but quite frankly you are unlikely to notice much difference in batteries.

Buy the one with the longest non pro-rated warranty!
