Battery is on it's last legs on the 3.0 MPV. What brand is highly regarded? How's the offering in AAP, Autozone?

Thanks

I just got a gold from AAP add some other stuff to the order and use a $50 off code. I got the battery and 2 gal Max life tranny fluid for $100 with the code VISA.

The battery is by Johnson Controls so i think its okay for the money.

There arent many battery companies making everybodys battery....Exide,Johnson Controls,East Penn....no matter the label, the same people are making them.

Ive had good experience with NAPA
their 75 month have been good, have one in my astro now.
....the Diehard lasted 3 yrs in the Honda, not bad i guess, considering the heat/humidity here.

I believe Johnson Controls makes Interstate, Energizer and the one you got. Apparently Johnson Controls make some of the best batteries around.

Given the choice between Exide and Johnson then Johnson it is.

After dealing with Corroded terminals all my life I wouldn't buy a flooded battery again. The AGM batteries are where it's at.

I myself like Interstate, but my best advice is to get a battery with a good warranty and plenty of warranty locations. Interstate has over 200,000 warranty dealers and there a walmart close buy wherever you are. Soon or later all batteries fail. I'd hope there is a place to warranty it around.

I have gotten good service from delco branded batteries. And the price may be lower than you might think.

Many times the seal between the case and post gets damaged, it doesn't take much.
I go just snug and that's it, never had much corrosion on any battery terminal.

Either get the Gold battery from AAP with some discount code as Trav did, or check the price at local Ford dealers you may be able to get a BXT battery for less than $100. It has 3 years free replacement and 100 months pro-rate. I bought the largest battery BXT49 for my E430 last summer at a Ford dealer for less than $100.

The BXT series are made by JC.

As much as I like something cheap I'm seeing a lot of newish Advance "econo" batteries with problems.

Interstate batteries are great. I bought an Autozone battery about 2 years ago and haven't been impressed. Doesn't have much reserve charge at all. Went dead on me once when I had a small electrical issue. Took forever to recharge fully too. I had an interstate battery last me almost 10 years though!

If your a Costco member....their Kirkland brand (made by Johnson Controls)....are highly rated by Consuners Reports.

I paid just $68.....and it has a great warranty.
