Putting aside his personality and character flaws, the guy is one of the top 5 players of all time. You don't have to like him (I don't) but looking at him based on his performance alone, he's remarkable. No one knows what he took and when he started.
What if pitchers were/are taking roids too? Does that offset Bonds taking them?
Mike Tyson was another jerk. But the guy in his prime was great. If you mix in the other stuff, his ratings will suffer with most people. It's completely understandble.

I think he started when he came back from the off season and was huge. He was lean the season before and then all of the sudden he was huge. Thats when I believe he was taking roids. So then if you stop his career their I do believe he is one of the best but I do not believe he is top 5. Hall of Fame without a doubt but not top 5. IMHO. Plus I really doubt that pitchers would take roids that much. It is not good for your joints. Pitchers need their shoulders more than anybody. Plus you did not see a huge rise in pitchers that are throwing 100mph fast balls. Plus I really think the pitching quality had a huge low point during his career. Either that are all the hitters were juicing so it just made the pitchers look bad? Thats all MHO of course.

How do you figure it is racist to say he is juiceing. No one accused Hank Aaron of juiceing so how do you see a race issue here? It was ok to grill Mark McQuire over his use of prohormones wich are a far cry from steroids in that your body can only activate the amount of them comenserate with the amount of enzymes your body has. Steroids on the other hand go into the body already ,etabolicly active and do not require your body to convert anything so their is no limit to their effectiveness other then the dosage you take. Prohormones were also legal at the time and one DHEA is still legal as are all the phyto-estrogen products ont he market that are actual steroids not metabolites or precursors. You did not see anyone makeing racism claims when a white male was being put through the wringer!
I happen to be 1/2 German Jew(practiceing christian) and 1/2 Spanish as in from Spain. So I know a thing or two about prejudice. I also grew up in comunities that had Purto Ricans,Mexicans,Koreans,Sumoians,Jamicans,British,Phillipinos, etc.... all liveing in the same buildings going to the same schools, rideing the same bus, and all dateing each other. Not once did I ever hear anyone toss out such a lame loser excuse as racism!!!People that try to use that as a rallie cry are scum in my book especialy were their is no racism. I realise their is still racism in this world but America in the year 2007 is about as good as it is going to get anyplace in this world! I see a greater amount of hate and resitantment comeing from traditional minoritie groops then I do the mainstream! People like Faricon(sp),Jesse James and Al Sharpton only serve to divide people and drive wedges between the races they do not serve the same cause of peace and unity that Martin Lurther King Jr. did!!
It is because of people that cry racism all the time were their is none that no one takes many legitimate reports seriously!I have seen this at work before someones performance is substandard and they are give 10 times the opertunity to improve or change before being written up and when they do get written up the first words out of their mouth are racism.I am not saying that racism does not exsist as I have experinced myself first hand on more then one occasion but that does not mean that it is an all consumeing force driveing everyones behavior either! I was once pulled over by 12 cop cars for dropping off two black kids I went to school with. Their was two black kids and one white kid in an old Ford in an expensive neighborhood. The neighborhood watch called the cops on us. The sad thing is that both of my black friends lived in that neighborhood. Their uncle designed that couminty.The cops had guns drawn and the whole nine yards.
I guess I am lucky in some ways since I can easily hide my Hispanic and Jewish background and some can not. This means I get treated like a caucasin all the time by everyone so no one hides their prejudice from me at all. I seldom tell people anything if they do not ask about my background other then that I am of German decent!

I care only for sports where ethics still count: bicycling and wrestling.
Bonds broke the baseball record, he did not break Hank's record. They happened in different times. Remember the manager that put a midget on his team and no one could strike him out. There's a difference between playing the game and putting on a side show. It's interesting that Bonds can hit home runs but it looks like Hank's record will stand a while longer.
I think he means the Reverend JJ Jackson of MTV fame.

Personally I could care less. Im not a sports fan really. I'll watch some, but don't really care for them. My opinion was if they proved he was taking vitamin R then start banning them from the sport or suspensions.

Not if all golfers in competition have access to the same equipment and there's an even playing field.
Ask Carl Lewis about Ben Johnson. No one denies the greatness of Jesse Owens yet no one disputes Carl Lewis achievements. You can't compare different eras when speaking of ball players, you can compare them to their peers.
Bonds was the best among his peers without the steroids, the steroids put him so far ahead that it made his achievements timeless when they weren't.
