I have an older band saw and joiner that lack on/off safely switches. Actually, they lack switches. I'm looking for some kind of a safety switch that I can plug the motors into and mount somewhere on the machines. Any ideas?

Just cut into the power cord and add a regular light switch and box. If you feel you need a "safety switch", add a normally closed contact mushroom head switch. Run the black wire from the power cord thru it. Hitting the switch cuts the power, machine stops running.,,

All of the power tools at work now have foot switches... you have to step on it and stay there for the tool to get power. Take your foot off and power quits. You can buy one or make one.

Do you think this is better than on/off? I guess it's safer.
