I just wanted to get everybody's opinion on Baldwin filters. I have seen a couple of posts that have not been favorable. I thought it was a good filter and they are only about $4.15 (tax included) for my 02 Explorer.

have used baldwin oil, air and atx filters for a few years. never took an oil filter apart, but they seem pretty solid, never had any problems.

I have had no problems at all with Baldwin filters. I cut open all my old filters and they seem perfectly good to me. Same for Napa golds and most Purolators that I've used. Based on what others have said you might want to buy the Badwin that fits your vehicle and check out it's constuction. I have one Purolator that has cardboard endcaps. Only one that I have seen.

There will always be some that just don't like a particular brand for one reason or another.

One time I noticed after removing a Baldwin oil filter, that the gasket had separated from the canister. Don't know if that matters one bit or not

The canister itself is a tank, and a pretty red.

I used Baldwin and Hasting's Filter for along time and really like them. I no longer use them because my local source wants $6.15 per filter if I pick them up. I will not pay more then $4 for an oil filter so I use Walmart's brand now.
