Had to look up egglet.Bald eagles and most raptors are in breeding season with egglets on the nest.
Bald = piebald = patchy like a magpieI never could understand why they're called bald eagles. They're not anymore bald than any other bird out there.
He's got feathers on his head doesn't he? So what if they're white? Call him bald because he's got white feathers? You can't understand why an all brown bird with an all white head would be considered bald?
Where in NJ? I saw one in Warren county last year. First time I ever spotted one in NJ, only to find out it’s not that uncommon. But I was thrilled.

We've got Bald Eagles here in Lakehurst too. They usually nest somewhere along Lake Horicon each year, or somewhere nearby at least.South Jersey near Mullica Hill/Swedesboro.
I remember when I was growing up it was rare you'd see them. We've got Bald Eagles here in Lakehurst too. They usually nest somewhere along Lake Horicon each year, or somewhere nearby at least.
I saw one circling my parents backyard last summer so I called my mom and told her to put the chickens in. She did and the eagle flew off.
I saw a big ole Goshawk last summer. That was a cool sight.
Oh yeah, I only started seeing them maybe 10 years ago. It was rare even then to spot them. The past few years, I've been seeing them more and more.I remember when I was growing up it was rare you'd see them.
They've been in my area for 10+ years (??) but less than 20 if I were to guess. I've personally never seen one even though there are many known nests with breeding pairs (the local park district tries to keep tabs on these although they never give specifics on where a nest is) and others who have seen them.I remember when I was growing up it was rare you'd see them.
