i just put this oil in my jetta about 1-2 months ago. i remember thinking it was very clear, only a touch of color, so maybe it was this new stuff. i'm at 3500 of 5000 miles, so i should have a UOA on it within 1-2 months.

There goes my experiment....and plans.

BUT I did buy 8 qts many months ago.

The plan is to run a 50/50 mix with Amsoil 15W-40 (remember that one).

The ironic thing is, just this AM I got the Amsoil and now waiting for the sample kit and will change the oil this weekend or so...

I know where they sell the Pennz LL 15W-40 around here...is there a date code to look for??????

so what do you guys think of this oil now? i was under the inpression that moly is a good thing. i was planning on switching from schaeffers #7000 but maybe am not going to. is there any other dino oils out there that have high moly? schaeffers has the moly i like but it can get a little more costly than dino.

This is a disappointing change. It was the strong additive package that always attracted me to Pennzoil Long Life. I was still not sure if I was going to use Delvac 1300 or Pennzoil Long Life (no Delo in this area) in my old Torino, but I guess this seals it. I will be using Delvac 1300.

I am currently using LL 15W40 in another car (currently undergoing a Auto-RX treatment). I was going to switch to LL 10W30 for the rinse phase, since I think the 15W40 is a bit thick for this car. I wonder if the 10W30 is going to recieve these changes? If these changes are brought about to LL 10W30, I don't know if I can find another 10W30 HDEO in this area. But I supposed even this "watered down" LL is better than a PCEO.

Jelly, is this the CI-4/SL formula? I found some SJ-rated (CH-4/CI-4/SJ...no SL rating) LL 15w-40 today and didn't buy it 'cuz I thought it would be too old. Maybe the older product is what I'm looking for???

I agree. "Sucks" is the word.

I guess there's no reason for me to favor Pennzoil Long Life over Chevron Delo400 anymore ... especially since I own a little Chevron Texaco stock.

For a while, it looks like everyone was catching up with Schaeffer, but I'll be sticking with #700 for all my heavy duty applications.
