a family member works for a company here that maintains pumps at the gas stations here in rocky mtn region and she says they find out that king soopers, albertsons, safeway gas is horrible!!! stay away...

I often wondered how hard it would be to have a drain cock installed on the bottom of the gas tank for inspection and draining.I guess it would make it easier for theives but I would hide it.
Ships have drain cocks on the bottom of all tanks for inspection every month or when under suspect.
I worked in a scrap yard for 7 years when younger and we had to take the gas tanks off all vehicles before sent to the crusher. We just burnt the gas in the yard vehicles.I burnt the gas in my personal vehicle when I was hard up.
Point is: There is a lot of crap in tanks.
If under suspect and you really want to make sure, I would drop the tank.
Come to think of it, I should drop my tank in the spring just to check it out.
As well, I will look in to the legalities of a drain plug. What do you people think?

You get what you pay for.
Isopropyl alcohol is better then nothing when suspecting "moisture" in the fuel.
I won't use the water word. Around here, if you get water in the tank, it won't restart without tank removal and cleaning.

I'd run some FI cleaner through it if gas brand changing is that noticeable.
Break out the Regane/FP/Neutra/Redline/Amsoil/Techron/lubrigas/Seaform/Berryman/Marvel NOW!

Gasoline drainplug is not feasible for the typical auto owner. A breakdown in a car requires a tow. A breakdown in an airplane causes crashes. Two different worlds.

gas tanks do have drain plugs. every car i have ever owned from a mazda protege to a honda crv has a drian plug. its usually behind a rubber plug on the very bottom of the tank.

My 57 Chevy used to have a drain plug in the gas tank. They went away like side vent windows and other features to reduce manufacturing cost.

I like the idea of a drain plug or valve a lot.

All light airplanes have them, some have several, depending on the tank/fuel system arrangement. It's a standard part of preflight every time to drain a sample into a clear container to check for water (and based on color, correct fuel type).
