Anyone know what I can do about bad blow by? I have an 89 2.6L Mitsubishi Mighty Max and there is a lot of oil coming out of the exaust. What can I do to fix it or help lessen the blow by?

It's not in the air cleaner assembly? Unless rings are stuck ..it's going where it should ..through the combustion process. If it was fouling your air cleaner ..then you would put in a catch can.

It has a carb and there is no oil in the air cleaner. When I hold my hand in front of the exhaust I get spots of oil sprayed onto my hand. It is so bad I need to add about a 1/2 quart of oil every 500 miles.

IIRC, the Mitsubishi of this vintage had shot valve guides at around 100k. Can we assume, since you didn't mention it, that there is no plug fouling and whatnot

If not, then a head refresh may be in order. I had to do it on a carb 1.6 in a Champ. In that case all the exhaust valves and the exhaust valve guides were shot. It didn't result in smoke though. It actually wasn't a bad job. They seemed to make everything easily accessible.

You may get lucky with just seals. Not all of them just smoke at idle.

There's a reason Mitsubishi quit importing the little Mighty Max. That reason was the 2.6 L.engine. It had guide problems as well as cylinders that were made out of the softest iron on the planet. WORD OF CAUTION don't even say the word "overheat" in the truck's presence. If it hears you the head will crack in 12 different locations. I pulled one apart and sent the head to my machinist. He called and said the head had 14 separate cracks(which was a new record for him)
LESSON LEARNED= Just becouse the Japanese built it doesn't mean it can't be a piece of junk. Ask anyone who has had a 88 Tercel with a varible venturi carb. that was spawned out of the pitts of #@$%!.
Maybe I sound harsh. Cut your losses and be thou free of that thing!
