If your vehicle was back spec. to 5W20. And all the car ever had was 5W30 (Synthetic and Conventional). Would you start with 5W20 conventional, or go right for the Synthetic?

You can absolutely go straight to synthetic 5w20. The myth between the "switch" is mostly unfounded these days.

The 1mz-fe in the RX300 is back spec-ed as well, but I don't think it's a good idea to put a 20 weight in the 1mz-fe. It shears the oil down way too quickly.

But, as for your case, I think you'll be fine going straight to synthetic for W20.

Well my thinking in all of this is most 5W30`s eventually shear to a 20 weight anyway right? So I dont think it will matter much. I just want to see how it runs, responds, and if mpg`s are any different at all. Probably wont see much of a difference I guess.
