Yes, our consumption has been cut in half down to 1 quart per 2000 miles now. This was accomplished by doing two soaks and putting it in the oil for 5 minutes then doing an immediate oil change. A special thanks to DRAGBOAT for this solution. Will do another soak in about a month and will leave it in for about 2 days this time. Then I'll do the oil change then go out and run the car hard while all of the stuff has been softened. If this does not finish it off I am tempted to try the GM Ring and piston cleaner as a soak. Currently have 131 in the oil but we will have to see it if can help, so far the drinking has not been altered by this product.
I just got some 131 in the gallon jug from Tim and will use it to clean out at the end of each oil change. We are on a 4 month or 2500 mile interval now since my wife drives short trips only. At from 1000 to 500 miles from the change I will put in from 6-12 ozs. of the 131. The Auto-RX did not help and is over-priced in this application in my opinion.
heh, I decided to give up on this 172k mile SOHC engine. I'm gonna get started building up a new DOHC engine in the next month or so. I'm getting better designed pistons and boring the engine 1.00mm over for just under 2.0L
Like to add an update to this thread since we have gone 600 miles and there has been 0 oil consumption. Did a third B-12 soak and ran the car very hard while it was softened and that may be helpful for others to try. Am going to continue to use the 131 toward the end of each oil change to help keep the rings clean along with some aggressive driving at times. Using Motorcraft 10w30 by the way.
