B,&S. oil viscosity chart : Why is it that 10w-30

conventional oil is shown on chart and not synthetic in that weight which would / could have less oil consumption . But they mention the 5w30 synthetic for less consumption in the chart . Would think the 10w30 synthetic ( not shown ) to have less burn off than the synthetic 5w30 . Is it because the chart that comes with your mower is outdated ? Is a bit confusing . If you know what I mean .

The new chart for my 501cc Intek lists 10w30 synthetic, as well.

huh , the B&S.manual for the BOLENS riding mower and WEEDEATER push mower we bought recently don't show that on the chart . Feel better now . The other 1/2 was a bit uptight since I'm using PLATINUM 10w30 for the riding lawn mower . Said it may hurt the engine since it could consume the 10w30 during hot weather . Tried to explain the 10w30 synthetic to be better than the conventional that's on the chart . Thanks .

I'm using 0W40 in my B&S 6.5HP cast iron sleeved engine. I haven't had any burn off issues but I'll let you know if I do.
