Average cost to replace TPMS ?

Dont know which frequency the tpms sensors are for the subi but 489 dollars is excessive imo. The tpms sensors for my N the self learning ones from hyundai are 157 for four. I would google or search your issue. im sure there are aftermarket options.

Typically around $50 each, though they're available online for cheaper.

If you buy tires from Walmart and have the tires installed, they'll install the new TPMS sensors at no extra charge.

Last time I put a set of tires on our Mazda I figured it was time to replace the ten year old (Denso?) sensors. If I didn't do it now, they'd be gone before the new tires went. I ordered a set of four genuine Mazda sensors for $55 (for the set) online and the tire shop installed them for free...but hit me up for $25 to do the reprogram.

For our toyota, the sensors will be more. I'm banking on about $100 for four of those puppies (Denso?) but will hold off until this set of tires goes, proably about a year from now.

Sounds like your friend helped their commissioned service writer and commissioned parts counter staff make their upcoming boat payments. Your friend should get a quote from another dealership and call the service manager. Even at $100 a sensor (typical excessively high dealer nonsense cost) sounds like he or she got hit for a few extra benjamins.

Key word there is "Dealer". Any major tire store can sell you programmable TPMS sensors and clone them from your original for much, much less.

Last August I replaced TPMS sensors in 2 of my vehicles at Discount Tire

2011 Ford Expedition EL
TPMS replacement (Schrader 33560)
$50/per tire sensor=$215 total

2012 Jeep Wrangler
(5) 315 REDI Clip In TPMS Sensors Replaced
(2) Sensors were Dead
$322.35

Sam’s club recently. $42 each and they’d test to see which one was bad. Independent shop wanted $300 to replace all 4.

Not sure how long new sensors last now but Amazon-supplied weird brand sensors seem to last four years and sometimes one will fail but not the others. The important thing is to replace TPMS sensors when you purchase new tires if the old sensors are getting old. It is a revenue item for the shop so or local shops will charge around $250-$350 depending on the shop.

See if they will warranty the sensors for at least the life of the tire.

Kal Tire replaced a sensor with one I obtained from Amazon for $15 in labor. However that was just breaking the beed and changing it.

The TPMS in my Mini are now 9 years old. Eventually, a battery will fail in one of them. Then it's time to replace them all. I would not be able to stand the ding ding ding ding ding.

Even Amazon sells Autel dual freq sensors for $25-30 a piece, take them to a tire shop to change, tire doesn't need to come off just bead close to sensor. Balancing would be strongly suggested after.
