Question I have....I just order some AutoRx. It says on their site to use on dino. Can I use it with synthetic or should I drain the M1 I have now, put in dino? Also, I have a Frantz tp filter, should I remove the tp before using the AutoRx? I don't want to clog the lines, if theres that much sludge.....

Thanks.

Doug -

I just put Auto-Rx in my old Jeep a couple of weeks ago. After 650 miles the oil is black as tar and I know the filter is full of crud. I would put a new filter(Purolator or other decent filter) on the vehicle prior to Auto-RX.

Everything that I have read about Auto-RX indicates using Dino for all phases. I don't know how many miles you have on the M1, but I would use Dino. Why not wait until the M1 is near its end....change oil and filter, plus add Auto-RX?

If you have been running M1 in your car it might not have the sludge and crud found in many older, higher mileage cars (like my Jeep). If you just put M1 in your car for the first time, it will remove some deposits and varnish itself.

I think I would run 3-4K miles on this M1...change to dino...change filter...and begin Auto-Rx.

Let us know how it turns out.

It's okay to use Auto-RX with synthetic but it's the rinse cycle with no ARX where you should use dino oil. You don't have to change the oil before using ARX as long as you have more than 1500 miles to go on what's in there, but I think it's a good idea. I did.

JohnnyO is correct. I was wrong in my earlier post. I read the instructions that came with Auto-Rx and it can be used with any motor oil for the cleaning phase, but the rinse phase must be dino. These instructions were updated 2-7-05. Just add the ARx to your M1 when you have at least 1500 miles left.

Yes, you can use it with synthetic for the wash cycle.

The rinse is dino only though.

You should read the instructions on the website, they are pretty clear.

Ok, will do. I'll just add to it my M1.

Another question. How many actually do the two cycles? Is that standard, or do anyone of you just do one cycle and that's sufficient?

Thanks.

Doug

Depending on what the vehicles history is I'll do different things.

My 160,000 mile 300zx got synthetic w/ fairly short OCI's, didn't burn oil and didn't have the characteristic lifter tick, so I only did one cycle.

My 213,000 mile Civic was completely unknown. I'm in the process of doing two cycles. The first autoRX drain came out black/silver.

From what I have been reading at the site, two wash cycles for a engine over 100,000 miles. One cycle for anything under.

What comes out that is silver???

Doug,

Leave the Frantz Bypass filter on, it is no problem. I have done 2 cleans on different vehicles with the bypass filter intact.

I did two cycles on my van because it has over 100k. I don't put a lot of miles on it, it took almost a year.

Used Havoline all the way.
