I just discovered recently that my truck has a slight coolant leak into the engine. UOA shows elevated Potassium and Sodium, but no water. So I put in 1.5 containers of the standard gold Bar's Leak powder into the Rad. to see if it will help.

Assuming that the Bar's stops the leak (UOA in ~1500 to come), would the AutoRX remove the stop leak and open up the hole again?

I know ARX is supposed to swell seals, but I'm worried that the cleaning part might overwhelm the swelling. I'd like to run a cycle just clean any crud that is in there since I don't know how long the leaking has been going on.

Any input or past experience would be appreciated.

Just to make absolutely clear:

AutoRx is meant for oil lubricant use (inside engine, transmissions, transfer case, etc.)only.

Bars leaks is meant to be used in water-based cooling systems only.

They cannot be interchanged or mixed.

If your UOA shows potassium and elevated levels of Sodium, it may be a head gasket leak. AutoRx has nothing to do with poor/improper or damaged head gaskets and neither would Bar's leaks can fix such problems.

Remember: a cylinder head gasket leak is a head gasket leak and the only real solution is to find out what causes this problem (is the cylinder head/block deck true? Have they experienced uneven heating/warpage due to overheating or similar? Is your head gasket "torn" due to inferior workmanship or material quality issues?

One has to answer those questions properly before he/she can pursue a proper cure.
