It is not hard to install a 1 micron spin on filter into any oil stream. Cheap also. I would not need a pump, the engine comes equipped with an oil pump. It is very easy to tap an oil stream from this engine, just get an aftermarket oil filter cap with a threaded port. Or drill and tap the one I already have. This engine can pump out at least a gallon of it's own oil without issue. In fact it can't run without oil, so there is no danger of accidentally running it dry.

I guess you are STILL not getting it. There are no OCIs to compare to, obviously nobody here has ever tried such a thing, and is apparently deathly afraid of it. It WILL reduce engine wear by increasing oil life, the only question is by how much, and for how long. The one experiment posted above agrees with what I just said. The engine will perpetually have cleaner oil, it never gets to a state of "I need to change this".

If you take out a portion of dirty oil every 500 miles (or whatever the interval is) and add fresh then it is absolutely 100% a fact that the entire crankcase full of oil will last longer. Ever time you add fresh oil it will last a little bit longer. How long will it last? I don't know, and you don't either. I already said over and over and over again that I would need to do a used oil analysis to determine how long the oil will last.

It might only last 10,000 miles. It might last 50,000 miles. It might never need to be changed again. I have no way of knowing, and apparently nobody else has ever tried this, so neither do you.

The only "controversial" part of this idea is burning my used oil. The perpetual oil change idea is a very sound one, and I'm shocked nobody has ever bothered to try.
 
We have all said to try it and report back with your results.

You cannot compare the 7.3 to 6.0 evenly, although the injection system operates under the same principal, the two systems are quite different.
The main reason for the 6.0 coming into existence is it couldn't be made to pass 2003 emissions standards, the 6.0 could because of the injectors being able to operate under higher pressure, oil-fuel, which resulted in a cleaner burn.
At the time of the HEUI introduction in 1994 it was state of the art and much further advanced than any of its competition. By the time the 6.0 rolled out the HEUI was an outdated system that they made work by increasing operating pressures, which means tolerances are much tighter than the 7.3 system.

I am not even a fan of using clean oil added to diesel fuel, you're much better off adding the proper fuel additive and recycling your used oil, if you need a disposal site just drop it off here, last load I sold went for a dollar a gallon.

ALL diesel injectors are expensive. 6.0 injectors are not inherently more expensive than other engines, and they lack a very expensive injector pump. Like I said above, my injectors cost $100 each to rebuild and $300 labor to change. If I only did one injector or one bank it would be much less than $1100. Are Cummins injectors any cheaper than that? OK, they have two less, but they also have an IP...

Because the HEUI injector is a hydraulic instensifier. The pressures on the fuel side of the injector are much higher than on the oil side. You wouldn't worry about soot particles getting crushed between the injector needle and seat under thousands of psi?

You apparently come here to ask something you've already convinced yourself it's worthy of doing. Fine - go for it. Run your used oil analysis and let us know how it goes.

BTW - I've never known anyone to run 100% used motor oil in a 7.3L HEUI, and claim it's "FANTASTIC". But at this point, I don't care, so please don't bother explaining it.

I think the real point trying to be made here (aside from reservations about the engine family itself using such a system) is about cost effectiveness. No matter how much "better" ultra-clean oil is and how nifty bypass setups and so forth are, will it every pay off or even be noticeable in a consumer application? The taxi fleet vehicles went hundreds of thousands of miles on conventional and a Wix filter, with extended OCIs. There was no bypass or centrifuge or attempts to conduct perpetual oil changes.

The OCD side of me likes the notion of the circulating oil being cleaner than it was out of the bottle. The realistic side of me knows that it won't make a lick of difference unless I plan on keeping said vehicle for an OTR type lifespan, with OTR OCIs.
