Auto RX ?

I have just completed an oil change in my truck. The oil was Mobil 1 5w20 with a Mobil 1 extended life filter. I am getting ready to switch over to Amsoil and decided to throw my last bottle of Auto RX into the engine just to clean up anything that is in there before installing the Amsoil with one of their EA oil filters. I am also going to be posting a used oil analysis on the Amsoil after 15,000 miles or 1 years time (should be close to 15,000 miles under a severe service interval). Whichever comes first.

Back to my ? Would it be Ok to leave the Auto RX in the engine for say 7500 miles until I switch over. There should be little to no crud in the engine as there are only 27,000 mile on her. Whatya guys think?

Well firstly you shouldnt have thrown the ARX in with the synthetic oil. If you arent going to follow the clean/rinse instructions why waste a $20 bottle?

Its my money, I will drink it if I want to.

My question is Will it be OK to leave in there for 7500. I know how to use the product as I have used it three time in 3 diff vehicles. It is OK to use with synthetic but it just takes longer to work in that medium.

That mileage would be fine for the cleaning period but do you plan on changing your oil filter halfway through and then running a rinse cycle or just switching to Amsoil?

No filter change or rinse phase. Just throwing it in there to spit shine an already clean engine.

. And plus it is a little over 3 yrs old. I know it has an unlimited shelf life but im kinda OCD on that kind of stuff.

Won't hurt a thing. Probably you won't get a full cleaning effect without the dino rinse, but if your engine is clean to start with, it doesn't really matter. But it may effect your UOA.

You could just do a super short 200 miles rinse with dino and a cheapie filter, to assure you get the used M1 fully out. That's what I would do.

Maybe I will do a short 500 mile OCI with Supertech or some such with a MC filter. I just cant wait to get that Amsoil in there.

Why not just add the bottle of ARX to the crankcase when you have 3500-4000 miles left worth of service life left on the new M1. Then run a short OCI dino rinse. There you go a perfect application.

why in the world are you worried about the Mobil 1 leaving any residue in your engine with only 27,000 miles?

I would run the Auto RX if it was a dino only motor but in this case I believe its not needed unless there is a question about how often the M-1 was changed. The first LT-1 in my camaro had M1 in it for 28,000 miles and upon tear down in preperation for the blower it was found to have little wear and was 100% free of grime or sludge. Are you more concerned with getting all of the M1 one out than the grime, cause I highly doubt there is any?

27,000 miles on M1 changed properly would still benefit from a cleaning or maintenance dose.

Agree with the above. My 74K Honda 4cyl had visible grime in the valve cover with 5K changes on Syntec/GTX home brew. 200 miles into the cleaning phase, some of the grime is disappearing

300kms on RX in BMW 2.5 6cyl which has used Mobil 1 0W40 changed every 12,500kms about half normal oci. Already smoother and revs more easily. I'll run it 4,000kms with Shell Helix Utra 5W40

I need to explain something to you. As the Australian importer of RX for more years than I can remember Ron my business partner as far as RX is involved we buy by the case. RX has ttransformed Ron's forklift service business, known in the industry Australia wide as the 'man with magic in a bottle' He has more satisfied clients than you could possibly imagine. Personally I have been doing private testing on a Mazda turbo for years pushing oci lengths etc, you name it. I have not done a Barkerman style double dose cleaning regime but it's coming. Few here at BITOG have as much 'real world' experience as Ron or myself with RX. There is nothing on the market I would put in the sump of my new toy (BMW) than RX. It works and safe as houses.

I am assuming that the primary use in forktrucks is cleaning up the motors of the LP powered units. Do you folks use ARX in the hydraulics of the lifts?

Also, we in US have not much to comment on the Shell Helix oils, due to it not being available in the states. Does it have significant cleaning character traits on dirty motors. Pennzoil is marketing heavily over here of the new PP cleaning up dirty motors, but haven't heard of any raving reviews from users.
