Need some inputs on a game plan for my 2000 Honda CR-V. I have one bottle of Auto-RX sitting around just begging to be used and just got a jug on LC thanks to all of you on the board... Anyway... The CR-V has 63,000 mile on it using mostly synthetic(Mobil 1, Rotella T 5W-40) through out its life. There has been a few times of dino oil but not many. What is the best way of starting the RX?... I have Rotella T with a dash of LC in it now but I wouldn't mind throwing a new filter and some dino oil in it to the treatment. After that I know dino for the rinse, but when do I start the LC again?

Thanks all...

BTW...Just got a 2006 Honda Ridgeline...WOW...Love it!!

start the ARX with fresh dino ..no LC run the 1500 miles ..then a dino rinse ...then go ahead and go back to a synthetic and LC ...but DO NOT MIX THE ARX AND LC ...according to Frank the LC and ARX will compete with each other

I agree with Frank LC is a near ester so it may compete for clean surface.

RX will attack the carbon and buildup first. LC is more a anitoxidant then a "cleaner".

RX is like TAN, and LC is like TBN !! Not totally accurate but close.

RX first and periodically at the END of oil drains, saving time and money. LC during the normal drain.

Use FP60 all the time with Auto/Cycle- RX !

That way you clean the upper and lower sides of the engine.

Thanks all for the replies...changed the filter and put in new dino with ARX today. I guess I didn't mention that I am running FP as well.

What I did on my last complete cleaning cycle of a '90 Ford Festiva with 228k(now 240k);

Start FP treatments, continue throughout
Change filter, Oil is a "budget" dino.
Auto-Rx for 1500 miles.
Change oil and filter using a "budget" dino.
"Rinse" for 1500 miles
Do intial LC dose and continue LC maint through rinse stage.
Change oil and filter using your desired oil.

I found noticeable improvements at each stage. The improvements when adding the LC to the rinse oil were subtle, but noticeable. I have that oil. I just need to send it in...

Just started the second ARx treatment.

The purpose of running ARX with cheap in your situation is two fold. For one you will be running a short change interval twice. That will save you money. You could run the fresh dino for 1500 miles before starting the cleaning phase. If you do be sure to spin on a new filter. If it was me why wait. Secondly dino is especially important for the 2000 mile rinse phase. Dino oil is non polar so that contamination deposits that have been impregnated with ARX will rinse off metal much easier and more thoroughly. Besides you are running a short interval. A polar oil will tend to keep the contamination attracted to the cleaned parts. So get the system rinsed with dino before switching back to a polar oil.
